In collaboration with .club we’re proud to introduce the Student Clinic! 👏

You can be part of the process.

To become the cream, Aleenta Training’s boss budding teachers need to practice consolidating their skills.

This year we level up our support for the completion of their prac-teaching hours (required to become registered with governing body AUSActive) so they have a safe & realistic space to deliver real classes for real clients.

This means you, get full-body workouts to choose from each week – and you help to shape our trainees’ experience of studio-based teaching by providing them with a variety of body shapes and abilities that they need to navigate as they deliver the class.

More classes, less expense, and helping our students become amazing professionals?

Win. Win. We thinks!

Follow the link in bio to book or comment SUPPORT and we’ll DM you the link.

It's been a hot minute since I said hey. So thought I'd re-introduce myself here. 👋 I've been busy squirreling away with my Co-Course Creator, and husband Dan, on our 2023 Courses and Pilates cohort.

Dan and I created Aleenta Training as we're passionate about inspiring and developing the next generation of Instructors with Courses we wished were available when we started out.

I absolutely love sharing my love of movement and teaching you to become a movement expert. I've spent my adult life learning and have copious amounts of movement qualifications in dance, Pilates, Barre and fitness combined with 15 years experience as a Professional Contemporary dancer, Fitness Instructor and boutique fitness Studio owner.

As fitness professionals we're at the forefront of keeping people moving in a safe and effective way. My aim is to inspire you to change people's lives and become a teacher, a coach, an educator, a champion, a culture and community maker.

I promise you there's nothing more rewarding. And we'll have loads of fun along the way! 😆

If you have a knack for fitness and movement and a passion for helping others, perhaps this is your calling...

In Pilates, balance is an outcome goal, as we try to correct imbalances in the body such as those created by injuries, chronic conditions, occupation and/or habits. Joseph Pilates mentions the importance of uniformly developed musculature in his books and stated that only when the muscles are developed correctly and uniformly can proper function and flexibility be achieved.

As an instructor, balance can also refer to creating a balanced class. It is important to teach in a way where all muscles and planes of motion are utilized and focused upon. Balance can also go beyond the physical, referring more to mind-body elements.

Becoming an instructor is a fantastic way to focus on your health, happiness and confidence all at once!

16/05/2023

Alignment refers to correct postural positioning of the musculoskeletal system. Correct alignment is important for many reasons, including prevention of injury, ensuring the correct muscle is engaging and of course achieving the desired results!

As an instructor, alignment comes down to how well you cue, whether it be verbally, visually on your own body, or tactile cueing on clients' bodies.

We discuss all things regarding teaching qualifications for Pilates: insurance, certifications and more...

Every movement in Pilates Method has a purpose; to leave out any detail or nuance ignores the true value of the exercise. The focus is on doing one precise and perfect movement, rather than many halfhearted ones.

As an instructor, this means being attentive with your clients. Watch out for form and technique so that feedback can be given and corrections can be made. Cue your clients on the subtle details of each exercise such as the position of the fingers, whether the toes are relaxed or pointed and where the focus of the eyes should be.

At Aleenta Training, we ❤️ learning and believe it should be a lifelong practice. Fitness is constantly growing and changing, so you should too!

30/04/2023

In Pilates, every movement initiates from your centre; the abdominals, lower back, hips and/or b***y. Joseph Pilates nicknamed this area "the powerhouse," and it's not difficult to see why! Incorporate this principle into your teaching to give clients some history and knowledge alongside their abdominal cues 💪🏼

As instructors, we also have to be DJs for our clients 😂 It can be hard finding new songs to keep your clients on their toes, so we’re building a library for you 🎶

Check our stories every Friday for new music hits to add to your playlist!

Did you know Joseph Pilates originally named his new form of exercise 'Contrology'? Muscle control is a foundational and important principle of Pilates; the more you practice control in an exercise, the less you will have to think about it in the future. It will eventually come naturally!

NEW TO OUR BLOG

You love Barre and Pilates but once you start teaching you realise, filling the space of a 45-60 minute class with your voice is very overwhelming. Trying to choose from millions of different ways to say the same thing is overwhelming and it's easy to become tired of sounding like a broken record.

If this is you, try out Alicia's simple 8-step guide that will have you cueing like a pro in no time! 👉🏼 https://aleentatraining.au/blogs/news/a-step-by-step-verbal-cueing-guide-for-barre-pilates-instructors

Joseph Pilates created 'Contrology' to bridge the gap between awareness and movement, making concentration and focus a key aspect of any Pilates practice.

REMINDER: not all of your clients will be on a weight loss journey or seeking to get buff 💪🏼

Many clients attend class for their mental health too. After all, fitness makes you feel good in mind, body and soul! It is important when talking with clients and discussing their objectives not to assume why they are here. Listen to their needs and encourage their goals!

NEW TO OUR BLOG

"I’ve had moments of thinking fitness instruction is basic. Not meaningful…I’m not helping someone in pain like a Physiotherapist. I’m not making society better like social workers… I’m just leading some nice exercises!"

Have you ever felt like this? You're not alone. In our latest blog, Alicia discusses how she went from viewing her work as an instructor as being basic to incredibly significant in the lives of her clients!

Read it here 👉🏼 https://aleentatraining.au/blogs/news/finding-purpose-as-an-instructor-what-s-our-real-calling

Joseph Pilates believed that mental and physical health were interrelated and were both necessary to create a balanced, centered human being. The principles of Pilates have grown and changed over the years, but they always maintain this ideology.

Pilates emphasises posterior lateral and diaphragmatic breathing techniques, often connecting movements to our inhale and exhale. Correct breathing helps to improve circulation, improve skin tone, calm the mind and body, provide relaxation and stress relief, encourage concentration, assist in activating muscles, and expel toxins from the body.

It's all in the composition... how you design your class will determine its success! That's why training is important so you can learn the tools to create great classes 💪🏼

Aleenta Training not only gives you the opportunity to grow as an instructor, but to grow your personal brand too!

At the end of every training, students are given the time to take photos of themselves teaching to help promote themselves when they start working as instructors 📸

Think of the coupé like a smaller retiré. In barre, this position can be used as a modification if the hip flexor is firing too much in retiré.

You cannot become a great instructor without learning and working first. Brilliance takes time, and failure is not only okay, but encouraged! That's what Aleenta Training is here for; to provide a safe, welcoming space for you to make mistakes and learn from them.

The arabesque is frequently used in barre to strengthen the glutes - it can be done in large range (full lifts/lowers), small range (pulses, circles) or an isometric hold.

Photos from Aleenta Training's post 09/03/2023

Here's a fun one that's harder than it looks! It takes a lot of core stability to maintain this position. If clients can't reach their feet, they can hold at the shins or knees.

07/03/2023

This is why creativity is key 🔑

Don't be afraid to find fun and interesting ways to sequence your classes and challenge your clients' minds as well as their bodies! Think coordinated movements or timing with music...

03/03/2023

Piqués are an excellent way to add layers to a leg sequence: you can start with battements, developpés, or even tendus, and use piqués to intensify the burn in a smaller muscle contraction that primarily targets the glutes and hip flexors.
