Level: Wink 7-12 years old

✨This week in Wink class, our space explorers are taken on a galactic sightseeing tour to learn about the stars! Onboard a futuristic spaceship that can go faster than the speed of light, we will learn about what stars are made of, the different kinds of stars, and the life cycle of a star.

We have two programs, TweedleWink and Wink.

TweedleWink is for 0-6 year olds and Wink is for 7-12 year olds.

Each has a different focus but both are intricately related. For our TweedleWink program (younger children 0-6 yrs), we focus on maximising the absorbent mind window through lots of quality inputs. Our Wink program (older children 7 and up) focuses on the right brain activation and integration with the left brain for accelerated learning.

Week 36

This week in Wink class, we go to Antarctica to visit the penguins! Did you know that there are 8 main penguin species in Antartica? We'll get to see some of them and their adorable babies! We look at how the glacial ice sheets are melting, explore ice shelves (above and underwater), check on the phytoplankton, krill and other communities that make up the Antarctic food web, and learn how the ice there determines sea temperatures and levels all over the globe.

Week 35

🦖This week in Wink class, our scientists visit archeological dig sites to learn about the important work of palaeontologists by studying dinosaurs, fossils, and the Mesozoic Ages that they came from. (Our guest scientist is Mary Anning--a little-know, yet very noteworthy, female British fossil-finder from the 1800's. We love it when we can bring attention to women in the science field who didn't get the recognition they deserved.)

This is going to be a good one!

Week 34

🇮🇹 This week, our Wink students fly back to Italy to continue their "Fantastico Tour" via Angelo's magical motorbike. We'll explore Milan, visit a farm in Parma where they make Parmagiano-Reggiano cheese, discover the ancient ruins at Pompeii, and climb Mount Etna—Italy's largest active volcano. We'll see you in class!

Week 33

This week in Wink class, our time travelers venture into the future to explore healing art therapy centers and learn about how important art is to our wellness. Journey to futuristic buildings, an art studio deep in the jungle, and the peaceful seaside to discover the many ways we can express ourselves through art.

Week 32

This week in Wink class, our space cadets explore the giant Oort Cloud that encapsulates our solar system with asteroids, comets and more dwarf planets. We'll play with space measurements AU (astronomical units) and LY (light years), look at the solar system from the edge of the Milky Way to understand the size of our solar system and location of our home star. And--just for fun--we imagine what it would be like if animals joined us as humans engage in space exploration.

Week 31
🌲🌳 This week in Wink, we learn about the benefits of outdoor playgrounds for older kids, teens and even adults! We'll play in our imaginations as we look at some innovate designs around the world that stimulate the senses of sight (colors, patterns, ergonomic shapes), sound (music), touch (textures, organic and recycled materials), and even smell (scent pods).

Play isn't just for the young... it's good for all of us!

Week 30
⭐️🌟 This week in Wink, we look at light pollution and how it has affected plants and animals and humankind.

Talking points:
• Can you see the stars at night at home?
• What number is your night sky on the Bortle scale?
• What are circadian rhythms? Why do they matter?
• How does outdoor lighting affect animal migrations, hunting/feeding, reproduction and behavior?
• What can you do at home to lower nighttime lighting?

Week 29

💡🕯☀️ This week, in our Wink Science class, we welcome back Sir Isaac Newton to teach us all about light. We'll play with the prism, flashlight and use our imaginations to mentally see how light will behave. We'll learn about reflection, refraction, diffusion, absorption and interference.

In Week 27, we travelled to the future to see how people communicate! We explored telepathy, a universal language, sign language, translation technology, technology made of compostable materials (to eliminate e-waste), animal communication, plant communication and more.
How does the ability to communicate and understand one another create a more peaceful world? We can't wait to see what the students dream up in their Time Traveller Journals!
