In a breakthrough in the search for missing 81-year-old Upper Hunter man Keith Banks, his dark grey Honda Civic sedan was located bogged in bushland at about 4pm yesterday on Wednesday, November 13. A multi-agency coordinated land search began today at Upper Rouchel.

Before the most recent earthquake, Muswellbrook Shire Council conducted an online survey to better understand the impact and extent of earthquake-related damage and the outcome of insurance claims. Of the 200 responses, 92.5% of people experienced damage as a result of the earthquakes.
Insurance claims have been made by 49% of people, and only 9.5% of claims have been approved. With 51.5% of claims rejected and the outcome of another 39% of claims still unknown, the community has understandably expressed their distress.
