To support conversations, activities and events this Reconciliation week, we've created a free 'Signs to Support Reconciliation Week' resource.

It includes important and topical key concepts and signs, including a new sign for 'Sorry Day'. Key Word Sign Australia would like to thank Joanna Agius from Deaf Aboriginal Services for helping us learn and understand the meaning behind this sign as we developed a new line drawing. !!!TEACHING IDEA!!!
The King's Birthday (long weekend) is coming up - and AASE Victoria is ready to celebrate!!
The idea below could be one lesson or five and can be changed to suit a variety of year levels and abilities.
The King's Birthday Celebration
Instructions: Imagine you are planning a celebration for the king's birthday! Complete the following activities to organise a memorable event.
Royal Invitation Design:
Design an invitation card for the king's birthday celebration. Include the date, time, venue, and a royal message inviting guests to join the festivities.
Guest List:
Create a guest list of important people who should be invited to the celebration. Think about members of the royal family, dignitaries, and other honoured guests.
Royal Menu:
Plan a royal menu for the birthday banquet. Write down a list of appetizers, main courses, desserts, and beverages fit for a king's feast.
Decorate the Palace:
Draw or describe how you would decorate the palace for the birthday celebration. Think about colours, themes, and decorations that would create a festive atmosphere.
Entertainment Program:
Create an entertainment program for the celebration. Include performances such as music, dance, and theatrical presentations that would entertain the guests and honour the king.
Gift Ideas:
Brainstorm gift ideas for the king. What thoughtful and meaningful gifts could be presented to him on his special day?
Feel free to be creative and imaginative as you complete each activity. Have fun planning the king's birthday celebration!
