It is so powerful when woman get together, holding space for each other therefore making one feel safe to speak words that have never been spoken before, being able to express ones inner most truth, fears and dreams…. Celebrating each other and hearing each other then dance, laugh and remembering that we are on very similar journeys on this path called life….
I will never forget this weekend and will be forever grateful to have been part of this weekend and meeting all these wonderful woman…

‘ODE TO TRUE FRIENDS’

Sometimes life shouts way too loud
it brings too much of the things that hurt,
and sometimes life is a world of questions
it can leave us face down in the dirt;
we get immersed in weights and burdens
then hope just seems to disappear,
and that’s when it’s good to have a friend
one that lends a loving ear.

As much as fate can open gates
it can close them too, and slam them hard,
at the time it feels like a gunshot wound
and we wonder why our way is barred,
which is when we need a friend to talk to
who helps lift off those heavy boulders,
the support for a soul who feels the cold
a leaning post and a loving shoulder.

Good friends aren’t renowned deserters
they don’t go AWOL under pressure,
they’re there in the trenches, whatever the weather
and make a stale ache seem much fresher,
and never say: “I would love to help you
i really would and i care, i do,
but your problem’s something i can’t solve
you’re on your own - hey, you’ll pull through”.

Sometimes heartache swells the sorrow
it fills the wells within with grief,
the eyes then leak and the weeping starts
and it’s hard to find some sweet relief,
so we reach for the phone and call a friend
a real one, one with a loving heart
who listens as we spill the beans
who holds the space while we fall apart.

Everybody needs a true friend
a lighthouse for the storms of life,
we need to know there’s someone there
when we just can’t bear the days and nights,
when we freeze to the spot, see doors as locked
get tied in knots or end up lame,
we need them there, we need a hug
and need to hear: “I feel your pain,
but all things pass and this will too
uphill struggles, they don’t last,
I’m here for you, i won’t let go
for the broken i’m your plaster cast”.
