The Nurturing Nook
Nurturing Neurodivergence, Couples/Families
and one-to-one Counselling Sessions across the N/E Perth.
Better late than never! 😅
A wonderful health and wellness day put on by the local Gener8 Fitness Bullsbrook last weekend. Thanks to Craig and Justine for all your hard work.
Giving small businesses an opportunity to mingle with our local community and share some great stories, information and moments on the day. I loved some of the laughs that were shared between us all and the amazing food truck options too!
I look forward to the next one☺️✨.

Fostering meaningful connections with loved ones and the little things that bring us happiness is like cuddling up with a hot cup of tea on a chilly evening—pure comfort and happiness in moments of being truly present. These bonds don't just lift our spirits; they also provide a sturdy support system through life's twists and turns. By dedicating time and effort to nourishing these relationships and experiences, we cultivate resilience and foster a sense of well-being and mindfulness.
How do you ensure you're tending to the things that truly matter in your life?
Taking a second to step back and have a pure present moment, helps re-engage the focus of what's important and why we do the things we do.

"Beautiful and full lives" that's the bit I love the most because that's the bit that matters the most❤️.

"In the beautiful tapestry of love, every thread is unique, and neurodivergent couples weave their own way. Whether it's through sensory experiences, shared passions, deep conversations, acts of kindness, or simply being present in each other's space, each expression of love is valid and nurtured.
In the realm of love, there's no one-size-fits-all, only the beauty of authenticity and connection."

I officially started at the Madeley office yesterday and I was so excited! The vibe was calming, the clients were happy to be back and there are some fabulous women around me doing their thing to support others in the rooms around me!
It was a new home for me as a counsellor but also a new chapter for The Nurturing Nook.
You can find me here on Tuesdays and Fridays at JS Therapy!
Wednesday I am located in the beautiful setting of Remi Aesthetics in Shady Hills.
Booking link is in the bio and below!

Wondering Woman Wildish Child with Counsellor, Shannon Fraser from .nurturing.nook and and Art Therapist Lynsey Baughen from .therapeutic.
Well, a few weeks back, I wrote about being brave, thinking "Wondering Woman, Wildish Child" would be part of my former clinical practice before it was sold. Back then, "The Nurturing Nook" was a fun side project outside my main work in psychological services. In a blink, everything changed, and what were flourishes or adventure became the bottom line. Changes and plot twists beyond our control altered our professional home.
Now, I'm telling myself to be brave again – come on, Shannon, work through this, with a baby on my lap, two wildish boys jumping over me, and a foot turned blue from a tumble over a kitchen ladder-stool - (I had a quick 5-hour trip to the emergency department, confirming it wasn't broken, and I just happen to like the colour blue on one foot as my personal fashion trend.)
But here I am, taking video calls and counselling others, helping them stand on two feet while I stand on one because that's what we do.
You show up in all your humanness, and trust me, under the desk going purple and numb with toes that don't move (or if they move… then they crack and pop!) when I climb steps, there's me in all my humanness too.
Not judging, just accepting, because life is chaotic, and a little moment of calm is everything – so whatever is happening to me, I provide that calm for you! Believe me, I'm here!
Sincerely, Shann xx

In the realm of human connection, empathy and apathy stand as opposing forces. Apathy, a chill wind that leaves hearts untouched, while empathy, a warm embrace that bridges understanding.
To be kind with empathy is to see beyond the surface, to feel another's joys and pains. It's the art of listening, not just hearing, and the ability to walk in someone else's shoes. Empathy sparks compassion, creating a tapestry of shared emotions that binds us together.
In contrast, apathy closes doors, creating a distance that stifles connection. Choosing kindness with empathy involves a conscious decision to break down these barriers, cultivating a garden of compassion where seeds of understanding can flourish.

"It's all about the Journey".
A quote I live by that was given to me by my father. When I was a child my dad explained to me that the journey is the most important part of our story. The journey has all the character. It has the smiles, the laughter, the fears, the tears and the achievements we make along the way to get to where we need and want to be.
The destination is still important (of course) but how we arrive and the skills we gain on the way, is the bit that matters the most.
So for 2024 I hope to witness more people on their journey. Whether you are starting out and taking a leap for yourself or you are continuing to grow and pick up more skills on your way to the destination, I am here for it!
I absolutely love what I do because I love what each journey brings into the therapeutic space.
2024 is the year to be unapologetically you, however you may feel and want to be.
" It's all about the Journey".

To my previous and current clients I want to say a HUGE thank you for your understanding and patience this month.
With an unexpected and quick management change at my previous place of business it has given me a moment to jump all in and launch of The Nurturing Nook.
2024 has more availability in two different locations. I will be operating on Tuesday and Fridays in the suburb of Madeley and Wednesdays up in the Perth Hills.
While I am in the process of sorting out my online booking system for next year, I thank you for your kindness during a stressful time of year and being flexible with this transition. I have done my absolute best to try and keep your care continuous during this festive season while looking for a new space and this has been my focus and priority for you all.
I will notify everyone as soon as the links are up and running via socials and email. Please follow .nurturing.nook for updates for the new year.
