Will you support my Polar Plunge? 12/06/2024

One of our wonderful community members is braving the icy cold waters and Freezin' for a Reason this August in an effort to raise funds for the Special Olympics.

Special Olympics Australia brings sport, joy, and inclusion to people with intellectual disability/autism in local communities nation-wide, and is an organisation accessed and appreciated by many of our participants, so we see first-hand the positive impact such an organisation has.

Please support this great cause if you are able to, and feel free to check out the fundraiser details in the comments.
This team is more than welcoming, and encourages anyone interested to join in on the day as well.

Good luck Jodi!!!

Will you support my Polar Plunge? In August, I’ll be freezin’ for a reason by taking part in Polar Plunge and raising money for Special Olympics Australia who provide sport, joy and inclusion for people with intellectual disability/autism. Please be a champion and support me with a donation to my fundraising page. Any contributi...

It has been amazing to be a part of this journey for Michael, and I think Leisure Networks has summed this up wonderfully. The way that teamwork and collaboration can achieve outcomes like accessing the community with a smile is certainly something worth celebrating!
We can't wait to see what else Michael achieves with the ongoing support of his care team 😊

Over the weekend, our work team (including our extended team of furry friends) had a fantastic time taking part in A Walk in the Park Geelong to raise awareness and funds for the Parkinson’s community.
We were rewarded with a sunny morning, sausage sizzle, coffee, live music, heartwarming guest speakers, and the most incredible sense of community. It was amazing to see 290 people in attendance (the largest regional walk in the country), and to hear that the day raised over $15,000!
It is safe to say the team at OT Essentials are already looking forward to next year’s walk 😊

It is not too late to provide a donation (no matter how big or small), with all funds raised helping Fight Parkinson's to continue to deliver information, education, and support programs to empower people living with Parkinson’s and help them get the most out of their lives.

Today marks world Parkinson's day! The day is about bringing awareness to the general population of the challenges and difficulties which impact individuals living with Parkinson's. Raising awareness not only improves understanding of the diverse experiences of those living with Parkinson's, but encourages and supports research, early recognition, diagnosis and intervention which then improves quality of life outcomes. Michael J Fox who lives with Parkinson's embraces some of the human sides of this condition, playing the roles of characters with Parkinson's in numerous TV series. Why not watch the Michael J Fox show?

This year's theme for autism awareness: stories of empowerment, challenges faced, and victories achieved.

As OTs, we believe story telling to be a powerful means of gaining a deeper understanding of our clients. We take great pride in helping our clients to overcome their barriers and to be a part of helping them to create their own success stories. This week, we invite you to be a part of the story. Have a look at some of the stories we found inspiring and add to our list!

Today the OT Essentials team is celebrating World Down Syndrome Day by wearing these beautiful (but crazy) socks. Within our tight-knit team, we take great pride in working in close collaboration, allowing us to have a deep understanding of each other's talents, likes/ dislikes and hobbies. We understand that sharing different perspectives, beliefs and ideas allows our team to deliver the most tailored and efficient care to our clients. We see each and every one of our clients as unique individuals with their own identities, and we are dedicated to supporting and empowering them to take charge and leading lives true to themselves. Recognizing the beauty in our differences aligns perfectly with this year's theme 'End the Stereotypes' for World Down Syndrome Day. We believe that embracing diversity enriches our world, making it a more vibrant and inclusive place for all. Each team member has selected a pair of socks that best represents our individual styles, and we were so proud to showcase them today!
