500 years old The Slowdowns are one of Sydneys most iconic Country bands. As the saying goes, "everyone loves the Slowdowns".
Over the last 15 years they have developed a unique mash up of country, punk, blues and funk presented in their own inimitable “hillbilly disco” fashion. Wanted for murdering the hits, butchering country classics and spicing it up with their orig
inal originals the Slowdowns have been spotted at Dashville Skyline, the Peats Ridge Festival, The Wharf Theatre, Carriageworks, Marrickville Bowlo, the Red Rattler, Shady Pines the Junkyard and even Tamworth Country Music Festival. They held a weekly residency downstairs at the Sando (RIP) for over two years and had the sad honour of being the last band to play that classic stage. Perhaps you chanced upon them at Coonmable Rodeo, Nymagee, the Port of Bourke, Brewarrinna, Katoomba and Karuah RSL’S. Currently at large somewhere in the Silver City the Slowdowns have been sighted recently at the Unicorn Hotel in Paddington and The Old Canberra Inn. Featuring some of Sydney’s busiest musos, members of the Slowdowns have, over the years, shared the stage with: Louis Tillet, The Paper Scissors, Bluejuice, Juke Baritone, the Re-mains, Jeff lang, Ian Rilen, Toxic Vomit, Jesse Younan, Leah Flanagan, Dirty Deeds, Tania Bowra, Charlie McMahon, Rahtzee, Neil Murray, Dog Trumpet, Adam Young, Jason Walker, the Hoo Haas, Pigfoot Fever, and many, many, many more.
