Spreading the Good Stuff Podcast
Welcome to Spreading the Good Stuff - a podcast for regional women who want to thrive in their work,
๐ซ Farewell 2023๐ซ
In this final episode for 2023 we are sharing our Best & Worst for the year that was, and also three things we would recommend (Christy may have snuck in five - LOL!).
๐๏ธ ๐
This conversation is filled with books, podcasts and magical potions (if local honey counts) to help you smash the rest of 2023 out of the park and welcome in 2024 with open arms!
๐๏ธ๐
We also share what we canโt wait to do over the Christmas break and take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for listening to Spreading the Good Stuff podcast this year.

Are you ready for Christmas?
๐๐ณ
Maybe Episode 76 - Prepping for the Silly Season - could help!
๐๏ธ๐
Weโre back in your ears to chat about how best to prepare for the festive season, which is fast approaching!
๐๏ธ ๐
Can you believe we are in the middle of November already, with Christmas decorations everywhere, already neck deep end-of-year eventsโฆ and thereโs nothing on TV - a sure sign that the end of the year is coming thick and fast!
๐๐
So, how do you usually cope with the silly season? Are you calm, present and non-reactive to stuff that can easily make us lose our s& #@? Or do you already feel the stress and tension that is Christmas in your family? There is no one way to โdoโ the festive season and embracing another year coming to an end, so we thought weโd unpack how we all โhopeโ to cruise all the way through to 2024 - wish us luck!

โจ Episode #75 has landed โจ
In this powerful episode we discuss what resilience means to us, starting with a broad definition thanks to the incomparable and we unpack how we harness it for ourselves, our families and the wider community.
๐๏ธ๐๐
We open our minds to what resilience is and Leonie opens her heart in the most extraordinary way to share her resilience and grief journey. We thank her for her honestly and for letting her guide down to help others who might be feeling trapped in their grief of emotion.
๐๐
Bravo Lee and thank you for spreading the good stuff - even when it's hard!
๐๐
This episode was a wonderful can of worms with lots of golden nuggets of rawness and honesty, and we know youโre going to love it!

๐ซ Episode 74 ๐ซ
We are back spreading the good stuff after a delightful month off to chat about everything from alone time, social media detoxing and the perils of perimenopause.
๐๏ธ๐
Christy chats about her 'alone' retreat, Leonie discusses the benefits and challenges of a longterm break from all social media and Katrina shares experiences of 'change', growth and unravelling through significant chapters in her life, including perimenopause. We discuss hormone support and how important to get a second opinion on what you are experiencing and to seek out a women's health specialist, which is not always easy. We only briefly touch on this as it's a subject we plan to dedicate a whole episode to in the coming months - can't wait for this!

In this episode of season 2 we briefly recap our last episode, which discussed chasing your dreams and we share the importance of support and the perils of not having it. Are you good at asking for help in your daily life? And, do you feel like a burden if you're receiving help from family or friends? We were reminded that 'you can only give as much as you are prepared to receive' - food for thought!
We also discuss the art of saying saying no to things, which is another area of challenge for many. It's a tricky situation for many when we feel obligated to do the things we need to do for family, children, community, etc, and one worth unpacking. The guilt can be multi-layered, and includes mother guilt, family guilt, work guilt, friend guilt - all the guilt! The biggest thing we learnt during this chat was that it is okay to say no sometimes, when you know it's the best thing for you and your family. We cannot do it all and we should support each other, without the layers of guilt, and choose to tap out every now and then.
We also talked about being busy - too busy - and how best to combat this on a daily, weekly, month and term basis. We even shared, very reluctantly, how much we would love to in another lockdown right now (with full consideration to not joke about what was a very terrible time for many) just to stop for a week!
There was a general concensus that we should bring back Sunday as rest days and that sometimes we just need to rest... even if it's watching TV or YouTube on the iPad. Are we all just pushing too hard and running too fast? And please remember that resting is not lazy!
Weโre back spreading the good stuff with a conversation about โchasing your dreamsโ and of course, we canโt not talk about the amazing Matildas!
๐๏ธ๐โฝ๏ธ
We recorded this episode the morning after our heartbreaking loss to England and it was great to reflect on the far-reaching impact the Matildaโs journey has had, and will continue to have, into the future.
๐ซถโฝ๏ธ
Who said you canโt commercialise womenโs sport?
๐โฝ๏ธ
The timing for this episode was perfect given a lovely listener question from Jamie who was keen for us to chat about chasing dreams while wrangling kids at home. Well, didnโt this bring all the feels and open a very big can of worms! Thank you Jamie for reaching out and we hope you all enjoy this episode and think about how youโre striving to chase your dreams. Have you been inspired by the Matildas? Weโd love to hear your thoughts.

โจ New Episode โจ
In this episode of Spreading the Good Stuff we talk about social media. What we love, what we hate, and about the very slim chance that one day it might just all disappear!
๐๏ธ
We share the benefits and the pitfalls and how we 'try' and keep a handle on how much we let it creep in and take over our lives.
๐
During this chat, Lee declares she is still waiting for it all to blow up - arenโt we all! ๐
And we realise that weโve now been living with social media for more than 15 years - can you believe that!
We discuss the all-too-familiar love/hate relationship we all feel at times, actual physical boxes to lock your phone in (yes, itโs a thing and two of us have them) and also the elephant in the room: FOMO!
๐๏ธ
A huge thank you to all our lovely listeners, old and new, and for those who continue to share the love forย โ our little podcast.

Monday motivation! Thereโs a new episode out on the pod today tooโฆ how is your relationship with social media?
โจ New Episode โจ
We're back in your ears after a mini break and chatting about the invisible mental load we carry and if it exists for men also.
๐๏ธ
In this episode we discuss how men and women share (or don't share) their struggles and encourage us all to show greater empathy and better support each other, as being human is really hard sometimes.
๐๏ธ
We also talk about the controversial card system used by some families to allocate jobs around the home, and catch up on some travel tales from Christy and Leonie and hear all about Katrina's farm based AirBNB Lost and Foundโ , which we can wait to escape to one weekend! ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Thanks again for joining us on Spreading the Good Stuff, and thank you also for all your lovely feedback๐๏ธ๐๐

In this 10th episode of series 2 we ask the question if women are ignored by society once they turn 50? It's an issue that keeps popping up and has us asking all sorts of questions about what's expected of us, should we get botox, cover our grey hair or if we are still as relevant as we age?
So what to do? Have the conversation with other women, or perhaps just care a little less about how we look? It's a tricky one, especially with the way the modern world and the media work to convince us that we need to look younger to not be ignored. Supporting each other in our choices is important and challenging societal norms that are damaging for women of all ages.
It's a curious topic and one worth exploring for all women and touches on comfort zones, playing small and how we should better embrace ourselves - as individuals and as a society - as we age.
Let us know what you think and thank you for listening,
Christy, Katrina and Leonie

Another episode has landed! In this episode we talk about the Sandwich Generation and the problem with getting angry when we donโt agree with others. Itโs an interesting conversation and one that brings up a general theme of being kind to yourself and others as we navigate different seasons in our life.
The Sandwich Generation is the term used for families who are essentially still caring for children (regardless of age) and caring for elderly parents who might be struggling with illness. We discuss all the pressures, obligations and emotions involved during this โseasonโ and how this often falls to the women in the family. Having a plan and talking to your family are the biggest take homes from this chat and asking for help.
The second part of this conversation is the challenge of how to best respond if and when we donโt agree with others, especially loved ones.
Katrina got triggered big time this week and then got really curious about her response, which was not as she would have hoped. Why are we so reactive to things we donโt agree with? This is a juicy, honest and raw conversation and one worth tuning in for. We discuss the layers of emotion involved and the learnings we take away from these situations. Itโs a big conversation and we hope you get something out of it to help you navigate these tricky things!
๐ Episode 8 ๐๏ธ has landed! ๐
This fortnight we talk all things comfort zone related, as well as why we think the 'fun' might have disappeared from community sport.
๐๏ธ
Following Katrina's cameo appearance for her local netball team, she realised that many participants, including children, just weren't having fun anymore.
๐๏ธ
We discuss why, possible reason's for our overly-competitive society and how many parents could perhaps care a little less when it comes to their children's sport.
๐๏ธ
This is a juicy topic and one that has popped up in the media recently with current AFLW coach and St Kilda legend Nathan Burke publishing a guide for parents navigating community sporting fields. Find the โ book โ in our episode show notes and please share your feedback on this hot topic.
Do we always have to win in sport to have fun!

Everyone seems to be talking about friendships at the moment, so we thought weโd join the chat..
In this conversation we talk about friendships and what happens when they shift, for whatever reason.
Specifically female friendships, the importance of them and what to do when they sometimes breakdown. How to nurture them in the different seasons of life and how best to look after each other and ourselves through the journey of friendship. Leonie talks about a friendship model from her mother, while Katrina shares a friendship that broke down and the emotions involved, and Christy shares a helpful meditation to support a challenging relationship.
This is a conversation that doesn't happen enough and there are no easy answers to a challenging friendship, however we are so glad to be able to share the highs and lows with each other and of course you, our audience.

Episode 5 ๐ซ has arrived podcast lovers, and in this conversation we tackle the subject of cultural change and how to approach it.
๐๏ธ
We take a deep dive into the issue of volunteer roles for women, and how even in today's much more progressive society, they can still be highly gendered.
๐
Does it matter? Why should we care? And how can we make change for the better?
๐๏ธ
We also talk about all the things we are loving, including podcasts, Small Hall Festivals, the fabulous autumn weather (which only two out of three of us are loving) making sauce and relish with the neighbours and how Katrina is all fired about making a difference in the farming community - stay tuned for big things in this space!

New artwork!!! We decided it was time to give our podcast artwork a bit of a spruce up and let you see the faces behind the poddy every time you listen in!
Whoโs excited for the next episode out next Monday?!
Welcome back to Spreading the Good Stuff. Firstly, a huge thank you to all those that listened in to our first episode back! Itโs sooo nice to be back together and back with you! Thank you.
In today's chat we get real, raw and vulnerable about life by asking each other a series of big-hearted questions:
1. Where are you at right now and how are you feeling?
2. Whatโs feeling good?
3. Whatโs feeling challenging for you?
4. What do you need right now?
5. What are you loving?
This makes for some great podcast fodder and we chat all things silent retreats, juggling work and family life, productivity and wellbeing hacks, yoga and empty nesting. There are also some gems to catch around podcasts and books that we are loving.
