What do I need to do with my celebrant before my marriage?
1) Fill in the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM)
This needs to be filled in at least one month prior to the marriage and once given to the celebrant it is considered ‘lodged’ and lasts for 18 months. So you can marry a month after lodging the NOIM with your celebrant. If it is longer than 18 months that you marry then you will need to fill in a new NOIM.
Your celebrant can witness you signing the NOIM (in person at the moment-March 2024). Other people can witness your signature, but it is not lodged until you have emailed, given or sent it to your celebrant, and they acknowledge receipt of your NOIM.
2) When filling in the NOIM you will need to state your FULL names as well as your parents’ FULL names (including middle name if there is one).

3) Prior to the wedding you must show your ID documents to your celebrant. Ie either a passport OR a birth certificate plus photo ID eg driver licence.

If you have married before you need to show evidence of how that marriage ended eg divorce papers, death certificate etc

4) Give as much information as you can about what type of wedding day you’d like. Usually your celebrant will give you some ideas or feel free to ask.

5) Pay a non-refundable deposit- this is to lock in the date for your marriage. I charge $150 for this and request it at the time of lodging the NOIM ie the day your celebrant receives it.

6) A rehearsal – if you wish. It’s a good idea to have a rehearsal at the venue if possible, with your celebrant and as many of the wedding party as possible- can be a week prior or a few days-whatever suits you and your celebrant.

You could also just have a run through of the order with your celebrant at your home.

7) Signing the Declaration of No Impediment-
You’re not going into a prohibited relationship ie-
you are not marrying your son/daughter, mother/father, grandmother/grandfather.
You’re not married to someone else
and you’re over 18.
this can be signed and witnessed at the rehearsal or even on the day of your wedding.

Looking for a marriage celebrant?
Some ideas for information when contacting your celebrant by phone or email
Here are some details to let your celebrant know, so they can give you a better idea of cost etc
1) You and your partner’s names
2) When you would like to have your wedding?- A specific date is great but otherwise even something like- late February 2025
3) What time would you like your marriage?
4) Where -eg backyard, particular venue, even if you have an idea of the area eg Albury, Rutherglen etc
5) How many people approximately?
6) Type of ceremony? Eg How formal, fun, long, short you’d like your ceremony

The more information you can give your celebrant the more information they can give you.
Good luck-can’t wait to hear from you. [email protected]

I know you know that Valentine's Day is very close. What are you doing for your loved one on that day?
Or are you someone who prefers to surprise them at any time with small gifts or doing simple things like: cleaning the house, cooking a meal, watching a show that they want to watch, that you're not overly fond of.

Let me know your ideas for connecting with your loved one.

Remember it's a leap year and the ladies traditionally can do the asking. Yes,on 29th February 2024 you can ask your partner to marry you. I wonder how many engagements we will get.

What a delight to officiate this marriage and thank you for this gorgeous 5-STAR REVIEW for Celebrations by Ruby

"We are so glad we chose Ruby to be our celebrant. Right from the start she put us at ease with her warm, open nature , her experience and professionalism.

Ruby made sure we were across all the legalities and details, and supported us to choose the ceremony style and tone that felt like us. She shared examples from her experience, but encouraged us to go our own way. Together we built a ceremony script that was entirely genuine and 'us'.

We loved how Ruby blended right in to our family and our wedding 'team', how genuinely enthusiastic she was about our big day, her great sense of fun and the kindness and empathy with which she treated our anxious dog Reuben. She even brought him treats!

We highly recommend "Celebrations by Ruby" to everyone who wants a celebrant that will listen deeply and help you prepare your special day, your way."

Looking for a venue for your wedding?
This is Orange Grove Estate ( just outside Culcairn NSW)
I conducted a beautiful wedding here in September, 2023.

What a year 2023 was for fabulous weddings.
I love it when my couples decide to do something different to celebrate their day.
Bek and Gavin wanted to symbolise their two families coming together with a sand ceremony. Bek did an amazing job finding ideas and containers etc.
A unique sand ceremony was created. The bride and groom and the four kids all placed a colour of sand in a container, representing the joining of these delightful families.
Thanks for having me as your celebrant and being able to work with you on this amazing addition to your wedding day.
