Breaker boards are mostly incorporated in composite decks to avoid butt-joins. This also helps control the natural expansion and contraction of composite, while minimising board wastage and creating a unique deck design.

The last slide shows a composite deck spotted in Dubrovnik, Croatia🇭🇷 Which should’ve utilised breaker boards and was the inspiration for this post.

RIGHT ON THE BEACH 🏖️

Our client came to us with an outdated tiled balcony which consistently had issues with water leaks.

Their solution and our assignment - Was to build a deck over a new waterproof membrane.

We utilised a frame without penetrating the membrane and Home Advanced ‘Oak’ boards to top it off.

The outcome is perfect and photos don’t demonstrate how much better this balcony looks!

Designer Series ‘Riverbank Red’ was the clients choice of board.

The positioning of breaker boards and picture frame borders contribute to this aesthetic deck design.

Apartment communal area deck reskins we did a while back!

Here we replaced the severely weather damaged hardwood boards with a more suitable board… Designer Series in ‘Riverbank Red’.

Whilst at it, we gave the existing subframes some love which included wrapping them in .

The result speaks for itself. We’ve be fortunate enough to return to this site multiple times to complete other small projects 😊

One of our last projects from 2023. Alfresco goals 🙌🏼

Our recent pool deck project…

Here we had a pool that had been half-filled for a period of time causing it to sink and tilt to one corner. By building a level deck surrounding the pool; We were able to disguise the fact that the pool shell is out of wack.

In addition, we created a pool area that is clean, versatile, low maintenance and seamless with the waters edge.

A aluminium subframe was a no brainer given the decks close proximity to the ground and constant moisture from splashing around in the pool.

Our latest project was a new build of around 100m2 using ‘Teak’. It features exposed cypress balustrade posts, stainless steel wire rope and LED deck lighting throughout.

A close look at one of our recent projects…

Here we had an old and tired merbau deck which the client wanted to replace with something low maintenance and flawless in appearance.

So we removed the old nailed down merbau boards, gave the existing frame some love which included wrapping it in before laying Home Range composite. The addition of a new long step and a some deck lighting really helped transform this outdoor entertainment area. Satisfying work! 😎

There’s nothing like being welcomed into your home via a front deck. It’s warm, it’s inviting and it separates the driveway from the entry. Do you agree?
