Come dream with us - what is your favourite holiday spot in regional Australia?
If you’re anything like us, you’ve spent the last couple of cold Melbourne months in lockdown dreaming of escaping the city and seeing what our beautiful state has to offer. While that may not be an option right now, the good news is once the restrictions are lifted, it will be the perfect time for a good day-trip out of Melbourne!
We’ve put together a blog post of our top 5 favourite spots for a relaxed day-trip away. Read all about it here: https://www.explord.com.au/traveljournal/yourpostlockdowntrip
What are your favourite day-trip destinations? We’d love to get some more inspiration. 👇👇
As Mount Gambier locals, we are big lovers of our natural tourism locations - including the Little Blue.
Listen to a sneak peek of our audio tour for this unique location.
Do you have any cool stories about the history of the Little Blue? We've love to hear them!

How did we come up with the name Explor’d? Well, as with every story, there is more than one version going around…
Our favourite is that while Explor’d may seem like a made-up word, it actually featured prominently in poetry of the 18th century. Poets such as Samuel Bowden used it in beautiful pieces like this one about the scientist Sir Isaac Newton and his ilk:
“Who to creation's distant regions soar'd,
And wonders hid from human eyes explor'd;
Did nature's deep recesses open lay,
Dispel the gloom, and spread immortal day.”
History lesson alert: during the 17th and 18th centuries, the apostrophe was sometimes used to help the reader with pronunciation, particularly in poetry, and thus for the sake of rhyme, the word explored became “explor’d”.
The other possible origin of our name? That a friend made it up when we were brainstorming ideas for the app. Which one is true? You be the judge.
Audio tours with a little bit of cheek, fact & conversation. 😉
We know you don't want audio tours that make you fall asleep, so we've developed audio tours that will capture your attention, make you laugh, and leave you with a few facts.

Over the last couple of months, Explor'd was fortunate enough to take part in the City of Melton & Venture Melton's The Hot House Project: Season 2. Under the careful guidance of the amazing Roshambo team of Hannah, Jordy and Thomas, we refined our business idea and pitch, until it became what you see in this pitch video. The finale of the programme saw us pitch alongside the other participants, and we are stoked to announce that we won the $5,000 grand prize for the Start Stream! It was such a pleasure to be involved, and we can't wait to use these funds to make our idea a reality. Thanks so much to the The Atherstone Exchange for providing the prize money, and to all the other participants who helped make it a life-changing experience. The hard work starts now - keep an eye out for content teasers and more, as we work behind the scenes towards an eventual initial launch in the Melton area!
