The Rotary Youth Leadership Award are held at Blue Gum Lodge for one week in January each year. WHAT IS RYLA? WHY SHOULD I ATTEND? WHAT WILL I BE DOING AT RYLA?
The program is for 18-25 year olds who are interested in meeting like minded people, having fun and developing their leadership skills. Welcome to the Rotary Youth Leadership Award aka RYLA for District 9690!! The Rotary Youth Leadership Award is a challenging one week program which provides a unique opportunity for developing leadership and personal skills. Rotary is seeking young people who have
the talent, energy and motivation to discover their leadership potential to attend this program. As a RYLA participant you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with people of your age, from a wide range of backgrounds , who are enthusiastic about their self development. You will be working closely with speakers who are leaders in their respected fields. You will attend workshops and lectures on a broad range of subjects crucial to your personal success including:
- Leadership
- Public Speaking
- Conflict Management
- Anxiety vs. Performance
- Communicating with the Media
- Job Preparation
- Money Matters
- Living the Extraordinary Life
- Motivation
- Stress Management and Relaxation
There will be an Outdoors Day which will enable you to to put the theory into practice as well as abundant time to socialise and have fun through a variety of evening activities. WHEN AND WHERE IS RYLA? The next RYLA will be held from 14 - 21 January 2012 and will be at a youth camp in the Blue Mountains. WHAT WILL IT COST ME? If you are selected to attend, your sponsoring Rotary Club will cover the costs. Your true investment for the week is a total commitment to developing your leadership abilities and contributing the RYLA program. HOW DO I APPLY? Applications are open to people aged between 18 and 25 with leadership aspirations and experience. Generally those who benefit most have at least one year's life experience after leaving school. The Selection Process is conducted by your local Rotary Club and involves submitting an application form and attending an interview. Applications close 15th October 2013! The Rotarians will focus on a number of selection criteria. Most importantly, you must demonstrate a commitment to developing your leadership abilities and to applying them for the benefit of your community. STILL NOT SURE?
