We’re forever thankful for emergency services personnel, who are always there to lend a helping hand when it’s needed most. Even during trying times, there’s no limit to their kindness and compassion ❤️

When our friends at Melbourne West Police Station heard we were in desperate need of supplies for the 800+ animals in our care, they jumped into action. Police members dropped off a special delivery of blankets, toys and food, which they personally purchased themselves because they wanted to make a difference to the lives of pets in need.

Staffy cross, Saffron, was thrilled to accept the delivery (and lots of pats!) from the pawlice 🐶💙👮

We send a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to everyone who has dropped off or done online shopping for supplies to provide comfort and joy to our pets while they wait for the greatest gift of all – a forever home🐾

Help our partners at The Lost Dogs' Home provide lifesaving care and shelter to abandoned animals this winter https://the-lost-dogs-home.giveeasy.org/dolly

Dolly was only six weeks old when she arrived at our shelter. She was malnourished, dehydrated and only half the size of her littermates. She was so weak, she couldn’t even stand. But, our staff cradled her in their arms as they rushed her to our shelter hospital.

With the support of people like you, we were able to give Dolly the emergency vet care she needed to survive 🐶❤️

Here’s a snapshot of Dolly’s 14 days in intensive care:

Day 1: IV to get her fluids up and a small amount of food to fill her hungry belly, but not too much as to make her body reject it. A full health check and bloodwork to investigate if she had any underlying conditions needing attention.

Day 4: Worming and essential vaccinations to prevent disease.

Day 5: Started medication for a stomach infection we discovered she had.

Day 8: Microchipping to ensure her safe return if she ever ends up lost in the future.

Day 10: More regular checks (and cuddles!).

Day 12: Dolly has responded brilliantly to the strict feeding regime of four to five small meals a day. She’s starting to look stronger and seems to have more energy.

Day 14: Another full health check. Her progress has been incredible. She has already put on a good amount of weight to get her on the way to the size she should be. She’s running around and playing with toys. And she’s gaining confidence with people too.

Dolly is a terrific example of the amazing transformation that is possible with critical emergency care. We’re thrilled to let you know she and her littermates have found caring forever homes where they’ll never suffer again 🐾❤️
