Today is International Volunteer Day! Did you know that the NSYO is a 100% community run organisation? We can only do the great work we do because of the enormous time and effort donated by parents and caregivers. So thank you for your info communicating, note taking, chair lifting, music copying, instrument moving, venue liaising, graphic designing, kid wrangling, meeting convening, idea contributing, finance managing, event planning, concert attending and general assisting! 😃🙏

Congratulations to our wonderful players on an AMAZING end of year concert at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music's Verbruggen Hall last night! Wonderful performances were given by all ensembles - what a way to finish our year!

Applications are NOW OPEN for auditions to join NSYO in 2024! Auditions will be held on Wednesday 6th and 13th December for new players. Just fill out the application form on our website:

We are particularly seeking tenor sax and bass clarinet players - but all instruments welcome to audition. 😊

This week, three members of the NSYO Symphony Orchestra (Tim L, Josh Y and Emma Y) took part in the Australian Romantic and Classical Orchestra’s Young Mannheim Symphonists NSW Intensive Program at the Sydney Conservatorium. They explored various elements of historical performance and performed a huge program including Beethoven 7, Elgar and Stamitz. 🙂🎻

We always love hearing about the successes of our orchestra members! Congratulations to Josh Y, Emma Y, Tim L and Mahalia H who competed this week at the Music Teachers Association Awards and were later joined by Lucas L at the Ryde Eisteddfod! Tim won the Errol Collins Award, Mahalia won the Wendy Ireland Award for Cello, Tim accompanied Mahalia, and NSYO alumnus Amy H accompanied Tim. Josh and Emma took first place for their performance at Ryde, and all of them received high commendations for their performances. Well done!

A hilarious and relaxing night of spontaneous trivia, improv jazz, and random conducting for our Symphony mob today! 😂
