It is with sadness that we mark the passing of Jungian scholar and analyst Elaine Simard LaForêt. Elaine’s remarkable book “Descent from the Cross: The Transformation of a Ma*****stic Woman” is due to be published shortly by the Australian Grand Lodge, IPP imprint.

Born in the USA, Elaine has lived in New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and California. At 52 with three children grown, she resettled herself in Sante Fe, New Mexico, and began spending three months each year in Australia, particularly Tasmania, to write poetry and vignettes and to hike. She moved to northwest Tasmania and then to Hobart in December 2002.

Elaine's thesis “Descent from the Cross: Transformation of a Ma*****stic Woman” marked the completion of her psychoanalytic degree at the C.G. Jung Institute of New York. She practiced psychoanalysis for many years, taught at the C. G. Jung Institute of New Mexico, presented public lectures (one is entitled “The Symbol of the Cross: Revitalizing the Balanced Cross of Nature”) and classes and workshops for the public. She held a BA from Wellesley College and an MA from Harvard University in literature, psychology and teaching.

We wanted to let all of our readers, supporters, subscribers and past contributors know that Ora Et Labora Volume 4 released in March this year will be the final collection of Ora Et Labora to be published by the Grand Lodge of Australia. Grand Lodge and In Perpetuity Publishing have shifted our focus to longer format works and monographs. We have some exciting projects from contemporary Thelemic researchers in the pipeline and look forward to sharing more with you in the coming months. As ever, sincerest thanks and gratitude to everyone who made Ora Et Labora a success, and antidote to the dog days of the pandemic. We hope to inspire others to action. Onwards!
