No one is immune to BC and age shows no mercy. It comes in a few variants, HER positive or HER negative, the later being harder to treat. Either way, early diagnosis is key. Early detection starts with you. Check my lovelies and do it often. Then, don't dismiss, don't wait. You are your best advocate so please follow through. If you're told 'it's nothing come back in a year', double check.

For those of you who follow Shonel Bryant .your.girls on insta, this post and all future posts about checking your breasts will be dedicated to her.

Lymphoedema & Surgical Physiotherapy at the Integrated Cancer Centre SAN Hospital, NSW is where I receive my physio. After my last surgery, the wonderful Mel helped with some laser on my scar and it made a massive difference.

When I read this, it was kind of a mic drop moment - I stood up, went and got our CFO (aka hubby) and we stood there in silence reading it again.

2 years on I can say that I’ve moved through some pretty gnarly feelings and have come a long way, but still catch myself occasionally recognising that I’m not done yet.

The pressure to feel like we’ve ‘moved on’ or are ‘over it’ either from ourselves or others can actually prevent us doing our best healing.

You are entitled to

This is not something I was very good at, but can I say... it did catch up with me eventually.

It always felt like there was more I should've been doing to make myself useful, to lighten the load I was placing on others, and then, comparing myself to others going through treatment. This is a really normal issue many women face when undergoing cancer treatment.

So I'm giving you a reminder; GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO STOP, REST & RECOVER. Not only does your body and mind need it, your future self does too xx

It's my very great pleasure to be putting myself completely out of my comfort zone and riding 11km's for 11 days (every second... not consecutive!) within my LGA to raise money for the amazing Pink Finss Charity who have had their main fundraiser cancelled for a second year in a row. I'll be doing this in conjunction with Jodie, the Founder of Pink Finss Charity who is running 11km's in 11 days! We'd love to have a cuppa, offer a lift or be an appointment buddie, but for now, Covid has changed that.

But there are still so many ways to support your Warrior:
• door drop a meal (or in my friend's case, the world's best
cupcakes);
• send a 'check in' text full of love;
• make a call, listen, understand;
• a bag of groceries or fruit and veg at the door;
• making future plans for your Warrior to look forward to;
• flowers - always and forever;
• a gift of practical luxury from Love Your Warrior;
• or sometimes it's donating to a fundraiser or charity of their choice. Lots of people showed their love and support to us when my son dyed his hair pink and raised $2400 for the Jane McGrath Foundation.

Whichever you choose, there are so many ways to show your support and make a difference to your Warrior xx

I know these bells can look like a gimmick, but... they are so helpful to someone that is in recovery or just too tired to raise their voice or have the energy to get out of bed for something. My son gifted me one when I had my surgery and I thought it was sweet. Little did I know that I would come to rely on it on those hard days or how much love my family showed me by always coming to see what I needed when they heard it ring.

FYI: I did try the mobile phone thing - but as it turns out, no one ever had it near them when I needed help and the bell has such a cute sound that it was something no one minded hearing.

I remember the metallic taste and the constant nausea all too well and wanted to make sure that the gum we offer really helps alleviate that. So we recently changed brands and have had quite a bit of feedback on how good it is.

Because the new tub is bigger and better at doing its job it's more expensive. But we've decided not to pass that on.
