Last night our Holy Spirit College, Cooktown Campus young people attended the free screening of Audrey Napanangka at the Cooktown Shire Hall for National Reconciliation Week.

During National Reconciliation Week, we take the time to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. In 2024, the theme Now More Than Ever, is a reminder for us to work together to create a nation strengthened by respectful relationships.

✝ Ash Wednesday ✝
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season; a time which is typically defined by prayer, fasting, and giving for Catholics. Lent is much more than a season that marks the passing of time in the Church, it is a key part to a believer’s individual faith journey.
Yesterday our Yr 4-6 students joined the parish and students from Holy Spirit College Cooktown and Cairns at 9am for a liturgy. Our younger classes had liturgies later in the day. Thank you to Fr Frank Gordon for leading us in this important time of our Church year.

Holy Spirit College Cooktown and Cairns

19/01/2024

Here's what's on at our Cairns campuses next week.

We can't wait to see all of our young people!

Transforming lives through education

The establishment of Holy Spirit College fulfiled the core purpose of Catholic Education Services “To provide excellent Catholic education for families of the Diocese of Cairns”. Like Pope Francis, who is taking church to the streets, it was recognised there was a responsibility to strengthen the mission of the tradition of Catholic education which is “education for all”.

Holy Spirit College is a unique environment being the first Catholic school of its kind in Far North Queensland; we provide individual education for disengaged secondary aged young people.

There are two campuses one in Cooktown and the other in Manoora, Cairns. The Cooktown Campus is a weekly boarding and day school with residences for 32 young people while the Cairns campus is a day school facility. Both of the campuses are co-educational and provide learning opportunities specifically for disengaged young people.

We offer more than an alternative style of learning, we walk beside young people and encourage them to achieve their dreams. We do this through providing an education rich in life-skills; we assist and support them to find a direction and purpose in their lives and hope for a better future.
