Hesyre held the title of “Chief of the Dentists and Physicians” and “Chief of the Kings Dentists” according to the inscriptions found on a limestone tomb belonging to him. This tomb, discovered in Saqqara, near Memphis, Egypt, is one of the most well-preserved tombs from the Old Kingdom period.

The title “Chief of the Dentists and Physicians” suggests that Hesyre was not only involved in dentistry but also in general medicine, highlighting his importance in ancient Egyptian healthcare. The tomb inscription also indicates that he enjoyed a high status in society, likely due to his specialised skills.

Though the specifics of Hesyre’s dental practices are not extensively documented, some Egyptologists speculate that he may have treated dental issues such as tooth decay, dental abscesses and perhaps even performed rudimentary dental surgeries. His tomb and its inscriptions provide valuable insights into the medical practices of ancient Egypt and the esteem in which skilled practitioners like Hesyre were held.

While Hesyre was not the only dentist of his time, it seems that he may have been the most important, based on records and his tombs. While Hesyre primarily served the Pharaohs as their dentist, records indicate that he cared about the oral health of workers in particular. There are indications that he worried that poor oral health could delay the construction of pyramids.

"Hello!

I’m Anna and I am a general dentist at DentalCare Clinics working between our Stanmore and Waterloo clinics. Having dedicated some time to pursuing music, my first love; I began dentistry and graduated from University College Cork in Ireland.

After completing my time in the dental hospital there, I worked in a private practice gaining extensive experience in many aspects of dentistry while simultaneously completing my membership exams to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

As a self-confessed wellness nerd, I craved a little more sunshine and exercise outdoors, beaches and a diverse culture – I told my family I was gong to move to Australia for 6 months, but the magic of Coogee sunrises and the creative culture of the Inner West means I’m still here, years later!

As much as I love training and developing my skills, my real love of dentistry comes from my patients. I strive to provide high quality, conservative and minimally invasive treatment to each person. Creating a positive journey is a personal mission.

Meet The Team: Senior Dental Assistants!

Dental Assistants, or DA’s, are assistants for our Dentists and Oral Health Therapists. Dental Assistants provide patient care and chair-side support to keep patients calm and happy during their journey to a better smile and oral health, as our clinicians complete exams and procedures.

They also maintain infection control standards, sterilize equipment pre and post use, set up the treatment rooms and prepare tools and equipment before a patient comes in.

Our Senior Dental Assistants, Nicole and Vy, are the leaders in our Waterloo and Stanmore clinics. Maintaining our high standards with their advanced knowledge, keen eye for detail, as well as consistent training and support for our junior DA’s. Between them, they have 13 years of experience in Dentistry, and 5 years of experience in our Clinics.

Nicole and Vy are also both great communicators, extremely empathetic, patient, and care a great deal for patients and other staff members.

What is Invisalign?

🦷Invisalign are clear, removable aligners that gradually shift your teeth into the desired position. Aligners are custom made trays that fit snugly over your teeth, and are virtually invisible when worn.
🦷Each set of aligners are worn for approximately 1-2 weeks before moving onto the next, which is slightly adjusted to continue for gradual movement of your teeth.
🦷Aligners are removed while eating, drinking, and brushing your teeth, and are worn for 20-22 hours a day.

🦷Non-removable, which means consistent treatment without patient compliance concerns – no need to worry about remembering to take them in and out!
🦷Can be customised with coloured bands for a unique appearance

Why is flossing important for dental hygiene? 🦷

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is an Australian Government program that provides access to up to $1,095 in benefits over two consecutive calendar years, covering most basic general dental services (but not specialist services like orthodontics or services provided under general anaesthetic.)

You don't need to register for the CDBS, and will usually be notified by Services Australia if you are eligible.

To be eligible for the CDBS, a child or young person:
- Must be aged 17 years or under, and
- Their family must receive Family Tax Benefit Part A or a relevant Australian Government payment.

We bulk bill for CDBC so there's no out of pocket payments for eligible patients!
