At Paul Russell & Company with both the coachbuilders Kyle Bannon and Evan Weymouth. It was great to hang with these guys and learn. The cars they are working on are the rarest of the rare. Check out the awards on the wall and the cars in the pictures.
One of the highlights of my Churchill Fellowship was a personal tour of Paul Russell & Company by Paul Russell himself. They do not do tours, so this was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Paul Russell & Company is the world's best restoration workshop. Among their customers is Ralph Lauren and his Bugatti. I also saw 2 very rare restored cars with one being the world's most expensive, namely a Ferrari 250gto in green made by Ferrari for Sir Stirling Moss; and a 1 of 1 Mercedes 300sl gullwing in silver violet metallic. Unbelievable other cars too from a 1 of 1 1930s Delahaye destined for Pebble Beach Concourse to a BMW 507 convertible.
Jugz Welding Caps order arrived from the US. Check them out on Instagram. No more mig overhead showers.
The latest arrival for a full nut and bolt restoration with us is a genuine R32 GT-R V-Spec.
Aluminium panel section weld join.
Aluminium panel front side welded up while resting panel on a piece of timber that moved about a lot and navigating around clamps. It presented quite the challenge.
Aluminium panel backside welded up.
Trying new materials that I have never welded before: titanium.
Tuning up my TIG game at American Welding Academy with my buddy Dabswellington. If you have not heard of Sean before, then check out his tig abilities on Instagram under Dabswellington.
Churchill Fellowship award ceremony at Government House. The award was presented by Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC.
Hi All, my name is Alison. I am the other person in Machina Magica, and Tim's wife. Learning coachbuilding (crafting panels by hand from scratch) under Wray Schelin was definitely a career highlight for Tim, and he hesitates at posting too much on social media. To think that his coachbuilding qualification comes on top of 3 trades at Cert III level completed through proper TAFE channels and all he works on is GT-Rs makes this feat even more impressive. Please join me in congratulating him publically in achieving what only 3 people since 1962 have achieved being a Churchill Fellowship in coachbuilding. The other three that Tim now will be joining are well known being: Mark Nugent; Robert Siemsen and Kip McIntyre.
Another weld seam ready for final finishing.
