Round 13 Appointments
Congratulations to Sam Evans who makes his senior debut today for the Tigers Vs Hawks Clash at Watsons for the show holiday. Sam has played football for most of his life and took up umpiring the last couple years, he even club umpired around 10 years ago. He has taken his knowledge from playing and has used that to become a very good umpire. He has good rapport with the players and understands the game very well. His debut would have come a long time ago, but unfortunately he is always working on a Saturday. Goodluck today Sam!

Good luck to Kyra who is in Townsville this weekend for the U14 Girls NQCC championships! Kyra is also a part of the regional umpire academy. We thank AFL Queensland for the opportunity to have one of our umpires travel down. Good luck Kyra!

Pride Round Appointments.
This weekend, we welcome Sam Bridges up to Cairns! Sam is a VFL Umpire, a QAFL Grand final umpire, and has even umpired AFLW. He is also the Umpiring Development lead for AFLQ. We are extremely excited for him to pass on his knowledge and expertise to our local umpires over the weekend. He will be umpiring the Crocs Vs Cutters clash at Port, featuring Trent Cotchin. Congratulations to Rochelle Ryan, who will be heading down to the Gold Coast this weekend to field umpire the NQ v SQ Womens clash this Saturday at Bond Uni! A massive reward for her hard work over the last couple seasons developing her field umpiring. Good luck!

Well done to Ashley Hutchinson who umpired the seniors clash at Cazalys yesterday. Ash umpired in Cairns from 2004-2009. Mick Taylor, coached Ash in the Adelaide Hills Football League for a handful of years, and here's them together in beautiful sunny Cairns!

Shout out to Linda McGrath, who umpires her first senior game for the AFL Cairns Competition in the goals. Linda comes from Victoria where she Umpired in the WRFL and WNFL Leagues and officiated Div 1 Men's footy. She has also had development opportunities for the AFLW. Welcome Linda!

Congratulations to Oliver Koch and Harry Riordan, who will be heading to Darwin next weekend for the U18 Representative matches where Cairns take on the NT Talent Academy as a curtain-raiser to the GC Suns V North Melbourne clash at TIO Stadium. Both are developing their craft nicely and have worked hard throughout the year, good luck!

The NTFL-AFLC relationship continues 🤝
This weekend, we welcome back John and Cooper Bament. The Baments have been here in previous years and we wish them well in their games this weekend! John will be umpiring the seniors clash at Fretwell Park, while Cooper will be at Cazalys later tonight for the battle of Manunda!

On ANZAC Day, we recognise more than a hundred thousand service men and women who have lost their lives in military operations carried out in our country's name. We honour the values that have been invested in the original Anzacs - loyalty, selflessness, courage - and the ways in which later generations have measured their own achievements against those of the soldiers who fought on Gallipoli.

With round 1 of juniors starting this weekend, the team in green are set for a huge weekend, filling 140+ appointments over 28 games in 2 days! A great effort from all involved.
