Momentum Energy

Momentum Energy is owned by Hydro Tasmania, Australia’s largest generator of renewable energy. Not all energy companies are the same. Support renewable energy.

Here are three good reasons to be happy about choosing Momentum.

1. We’re 100% owned by Hydro Tasmania, Australia’s largest renewable energy generator. And although you can add GreenPower to your plans, most of our electricity plans already come with a renewable promise - for all the electricity you use, we make sure the same amount of renewable energy is added to the grid. It’s a nice feel-good

Last Thursday we got all dressed up and went to the Premier’s Sustainability Awards ceremony as sponsors of the Future Energy category. And we’re thrilled to announce that Bunyip Renewables Action Group (BRAG) won the Community Award. BRAG is a local community group that have been helping residents and businesses to reduce their carbon footprint. We also saw Kinetic Melbourne take home the win for the Industry Award. They’re helping to make Victoria a cleaner, greener place with their Zero Emissions Bus Depot and 36 Battery Electric Buses. Incredible work!

Cheers to all the winners, here’s to our energy future.

Electrifying more stuff is a no-brainer to reduce emissions. So, we’re pretty excited to launch two eco-friendly, electric vehicles in partnership with GoGet CarShare and Nightingale Housing.

Our MD Lisa Chiba had the honour of delivering the cars, and it was her first time driving an EV! What did she think about the cars and this project? Check out the video and find out.

Carsharing is a great idea for the planet. It reduces the need for individual cars (and the embedded carbon involved in building car parks and garages for them) and helps lower emissions. But there’s something even greater - Carsharing an Electric Vehicle.

That’s why we’re absolutely chuffed to be supporting the Nightingale Housing EV project partnering with GoGet CarShare.

Nightingale Village residents and the larger community will be able to take the brand-new Kia EVs for an eco-friendly spin and recharge at Nightingale Village, powered by Momentum.

EV carsharing is caring (for the planet).

We think air pollution stinks (hot take, we know). And one way to reduce emissions for cleaner air is to transition to renewables as soon as we can.

Well, September 7th is the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies and this year’s theme is .

Together with Hydro Tasmania (who just happens to own Momentum), we’re getting behind the transition to renewable energy to help keep our skies and the future bright.

We hope everyone had a great Father’s Day. We showed some love for our parent company Hydro Tasmania and sent some gifts down to Hobart. Here’s our CEO/Dad, Ian Brooksbank, looking chuffed wearing the tie we sent. Wonder if he put the macaroni art we made up on the fridge.

He’s a passionate advocate for Australia developing a future powered by renewables (all backed by science to prove his case). And we’d join in the conga line of people calling him a genius. His story will have you feeling optimistic about renewable energy and frustrated we’re not doing more. If you miss it tonight, be sure to catch it on ABC iView.

Meet the Australian 'genius' engineer with a plan to electrify everything His bold ideas caught the eye of the US president. Our Story

Not all energy companies are the same. Here are four great reasons to choose Momentum:

1. You get fair and simple pricing.

We’re big believers in doing the right thing by our customers. So instead of trying to woo you with discounts, we put our energy into delivering simple rates every day. And this is good news. Because along with your zero percent discount, there are zero cheeky conditions and zero catches you need to be a rocket scientist to figure out. It’s fair. It’s transparent. It’s simple.

2. You’ll support renewable energy.

Want an energy company that cares about the same things as you? We’re 100% owned by Hydro Tasmania, Australia’s largest renewable energy generator who harnesses hydropower by tapping into the natural forces of water. It’s a nice feel-good extra you get when you sign up with Momentum.

3. You’re choosing Aussie, Aussie, Aussie.

Not only are we 100% Australian owned and operated, our call centres are in Melbourne and Hobart. So if you ever need help, you don’t have to call overseas to get it. And your money stays in Australia instead of heading overseas to line offshore pockets.

4. You get great customer service.

Sure, everyone says this. But there’s no need to take our word for it. Customers have independently voted. In both the 2017 and 2018 Mozo People’s Choice awards, Momentum Energy won in three Electricity categories, including Outstanding Customer Satisfaction, as voted by customers.
