Great news and opportunity for swimmers in the District 15 region to see the Australian swim team the Dolphins in Bendigo prior to the World Short Course Championships at MSAC in December this year.
The Dolphin pre-event training camp will be based in Bendigo at the Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre in Kangaroo Flat.
In the 36 member team is former Bendigo East swimmer Jenna Strauch.
The Dolphins squad heading to Bendigo includes eight Olympic gold medalists - Emma McKeon, Kaylee McKeown, Mack Horton, Kyle Chalmers, Madi Wilson, Meg Harris, Chelsea Hodges and Mollie O'Callaghan.
A program of community engagement activities, including open training sessions, are planned for the team's stay in Bendigo.
Congratulations to Bendigo Hawks swimmer Jemma Cole for making the Swimming Victoria State Team.
Whilst the traditional format of travelling to Canberra for the State Team Championships isn’t going ahead this year, SV are very keen to provide our swimmers with a “State Team” experience.
Securing pool space has been the most critical factor and after reflecting on the needs of the Victorian athletes and coaches, we feel the best option is a training camp at MSAC from 9-13 January 2023.
During the camp athletes and coaches will participate in a quality block of training, education sessions and team building activities.
Only 9 days left for swimmers to nominate for the District 15 team that will compete at MSAC in the Country Junior Competition for swimmers aged 8 to 11 years.
Nominate via Swim Central.
The District can have 8 swimmers per event and not many nominations have been received.
