We couldn't be prouder of our Lee Street Learner Jackson! He represented Lee Street and his people with pride at a recent Metro North Equity and Excellence Roadshow. Jackson was one of a few select students who were chosen to lead and acknowledgement of country. Well done Jackson!

This year the P&C is fundraising so that we can help the school to buy some extra equipment for the students. This will include therapy equipment, sensory tools and some fun things to make Lee
Street and even better place. Please share our fundraiser amongst your family and friends. The more socks we can sell, the more equipment we can buy for the school!

Our Senior Secondary students enjoyed another fabulous day at Mary Cairncross Reserve today! A lovely opportunity to connect with country and learn about the traditions of our First Nations peoples.
Sony Foundation Camp at Marist College Ashgrove will
provide accommodation for 20 special needs children
between the ages of 8 – 15 years. Due to high demand
for places, children can attend the camp only once.
Our companions are both male and female, so both
boys and girls are welcome to attend the camp.

Naomie from MyTime has invited guest speakers from Gamely Connect to the final MyTime meeting for Term 2 at Lee Street, next week.
Gamely Connect use a range of video games, board games, role-playing and client-requested games in their sensory-friendly space for neurodiverse teens (and adults) to build social skills and confidence and form meaningful human connections. If your child finds solace in gaming, then come along to learn more! Come along anyway to connect with other parents and enjoy morning tea prepared and served by our Hospitality students.
Meeting at school on Thursday 13th June, 9:30 – 11:30am.
Our P&C are excited to meet this Thursday! We look forward to seeing our new and returning members! :)
Tuckshop is back in action tomorrow! Make sure to place your order using the QKR app!
Ahoy! On Friday, we celebrated Pirate Day to support The Kid's Cancer Project. Over $100 was raised by our Lee Street community. Our best dressed pirates were Raymond, Annika and Chevie-Anne! 🏴☠️

Lee Street is excited to welcome our new Chappy!
Hello! My name is Panatswa and I am the new chaplain here at Lee St Special School. I am so excited to work with you all, meet everyone and become part of the furniture here. I was born in Zimbabwe but lived in New Zealand for half my life. I am a fan of all sports except AFL, it's too confusing. I sometimes play chess and love watching movies. I cannot wait to serve and support the school in the best way possible. I have already had a day to work in the school and can already tell that I will love this school. Please don't be shy to say hello when you see me, I won't bite 😁.
The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF) is excited to share the following school holiday opportunity!
We have partnered with the Australia-wide organisation MyTime to establish a Parents and Carers group here at Lee Street for social and friendly support reasons. Our very first catch up was last Thursday, and folks who attended learned what MyTime was all about in the relaxed surrounds of our school’s café. They were also treated to a delicious morning tea prepared and served by our senior Hospitality students.
Meetings are free to attend and held at school every fortnight on a Thursday, from 9:30am - 11:30am. The next session will be on Thursday 30th May. All parents and carers are very welcome to come along… Contact Naomi from MyTime at [email protected] if you’d like more information.
Please enjoy the latest edition of Lee Street's Word on the Street!

We've been having lots of fun learning about many new things in Junior Secondary this week! In Science, we've been exploring the tides on Bribie Island! We can't wait to have many more fun adventures this term!
MyTime is coming to Lee Street! The first gathering will be a casual introductory session to meet the facilitator and learn about the group’s purpose and activities. It will be held at school on Thursday 16th May 9:30am – 11:30am. All are welcome, and there’s even child-minding support if you have preschool aged children.
The best endorsement is feedback from other MyTime participants. This goes to the very core of why we want to establish a MyTime group at Lee Street and build a community of support for our families… See what others have to say:
