World No To***co Day 2024 will be driven this year by the theme - Protecting children from to***co industry interference
The industry targets youth for a lifetime of profits, creating a new wave of addiction.
Let's keep our youth educated by the harms of v**es and the effects it can have on their health.
Congratulations to the winner of our Mother’s Day competition, your prize will be available from the Griffith AMS 🌸
We hope everyone has a lovely Mother’s Day 😊✨

✨ Irene ✨
Irene is our newest Smoke Free Champion! This is her story.
"I smoked ci******es for 40 plus years.
I was a 40 a day smoker for at least 40 years. I tried in the past, nothing worked. Then I went on the v**es for 3 months then quit cold turkey. It was easier than I thought, with will power I quit day by day, week by week. It's been almost 2 years now.
Smoking has affected my breathing. When I was a smoker, I couldn't walk one block. Slowing my breathing is improving and I can take the grandchildren for a walk around the block and can now kick a ball with them.
I wish I hadn't given in to peer pressure just to be in the gang. I wish I had never smoked at all. I can't go back in time but if I could I know we would have savings in the bank. I wish I never smoked at all. I would be healthy.
Financially we lived paycheck to paycheck if we were lucky. Most weeks we were broke before payday. My breathing is improving so I can be more active and play active games with my 5 beautiful grandchildren. A lot or should I say most of my family don't smoke therefore, I'm able to spend more family time without going away to hide to have a smoke.
Some positive changes I've seen by quitting is my breathing has improved and I have more money. I would hide away from some of my family and friends when I wanted a smoke. I no longer feel like an outcast. I'm enjoying social events more because I'm not missing out on anything as I stay to the end.
I would just like to add how fantastic I feel when my family and friends tell me how proud they are of me for quitting. They also tell me how great I look. It has been a very long time since someone told me how proud they are of me.
I smoked up to 40 a day for 40 years, if I can quit so can you. You are loved and are important to your family and friends. They would love to see you live a long and healthy life. Do it for yourself!"
Thank you, Irene, for sharing your story with us and being a role model for our younger generation and the wider community! 🚭💪🏾
If you are thinking of quitting, call the Free, Fresh & Fit team to enquire about our upcoming programs or referrals to one-on-one support.

✨ Naomi ✨
Naomi is our newest Smoke Free Champion! This is her story.
"I have never taken up smoking because of previous family health issues and I wanted to change the cycle. I'd rather be focused on playing sport.
I don't like the general look of ci******es and the smell. They are too expensive, and they have negative health risks.
Negative effects that smoking has had on my life would be that past family members have had emphysema.
I would encourage other Aboriginal people to "Try take up a different hobby and quit to encourage people around you."
Thank you, Naomi, for sharing your story with us and being a role model for our younger generation and the wider community! 🚭💪🏾
