What is multi-sensory maths? Multi-sensory maths incorporates multiple senses in the learning process, in order to support a student to be able to understand maths more easily. One of the most important differences with the Maths Australia approach is around teaching maths sequentially. This is because each element of maths must be taught in a specific order in order to support understanding. Listen to this short video as our CEO Esther White explains.

Did you know that Maths is a Language? It’s true! Listen in to our CEO Esther White explain more, and how this applies to the way we teach and learn maths.

Will lockdown have a negative impact long term?
A recent YouGov poll (for News Corp) of 3000+ Australian adults showed that 52% of people believe the lockdowns will have a long-term negative impact for our students. With NSW coming out of lockdowns, Esther was asked the question of what the impact will look like, and what schools and teachers can do about it. With some students having limited access to devices during lockdown (especially for families with multiple children), not getting the support they need at home or simply disengaging with school from home, the gaps are going to be wide, numerous and potentially disastrous when it comes to engagement in learning. So what's the solution? Focusing on mastery will allow teachers to see exactly what a student knows and what they don’t, and then begin the path to filling the gaps in understanding on an individual basis. It will be a huge undertaking requiring much focus and skill. What do you think will be the impact of the lockdown for Australian students?
