Tempo - behind the brand

All BMX racers need a bike. You might like the stickers, their riders, the colourways or maybe you just want to be on the fastest bike possible.

Tempo BMX really started as some additional parts for bigger brand builds. We started in rims, tested by the factory rider and now owner, Adam Carey. Adam probably went through 5 rear rims in as many months to get the resin compound the way he liked. It was then that he was listening to a lot of discussion about geometry and performance on a Supercross track. There was one podcast in particular that he listened to and the next thing you know there was a “hold my beer” moment. The Tempo Allegro frame came from testing over 8 different bike brands, running hill, entry/exit and full lap times over multiple weeks to figure out an optimal geometry. At that time Adam was the head cycling coach for Thailand and finalising his PhD in BMX Supercross, so he felt he could add something to the geometry and discussion.

The Tempo Allegro has a geometry base which aims to improve your biomechanics in acceleration and jumping. Why? because those two skill sets are pretty much the most important in BMX Supercross. With all frames there needs to be an allowance for personal preference and the Allegro frame really does fit this balance.

However, the why for the Tempo brand was key. Why buy a Tempo Allegro when other brands and frames can probably do something similar? We have a frame which allows easier mechanical work, it’s light, stiff and rides fast and fun. The why though is a simple mission. A personal connection to your bike is the reason why we have done our Allegro frame. You will know the owner, the designer, the riders, the mission of our brand and we look for all the Tempo riders (factory or not) who have supported us. While our frame was born for performance in design, we aim to have Australian based riders excited about our company. Australian owned making BMX radness for riders who want to go fast!

We have an announcement with regard to Tempo BMX and our products!

Dear valued customers and supporters,

We have temporarily closed down our website. This isn’t because we are going anywhere or shutting down, but because we are shifting sales with the incorperation of distributors and shops stocking our products. We aim to ensure Tempo has an efficient, personal and detailed sales process that means you are getting exactly what you want, because we believe our bikes say something about us!

These changes have come about since we have had a change in director’s positioning over the last year. At the end of 2022 our founding director, Brett Williams, stepped down from the business aspects of Tempo Products. Brett has had a huge contribution towards BMX racing in Australia and been a personal sponsor of mine since 2012. Brett and I went into Tempo Products because we believed we could do something cool for Australian riders with an aspect of frame design which could make our bikes more performance driven.

We will continue to try and make the best frames, forks and rims for our amazing customer base!
