We are the newly created Okinawan traditional dance group based in Perth, Western Australia. Organisers have been trained traditional Okinawan dance in Okinawa for several years and have passion to show in Australia. Okinawa is the southen island in Japan and has its own unique culture. Through our performance, feel the breathe, music, and move to your heart.

This time, we had special friends from Melbourne and Brazil, and our very young member had her debut ❤️
Some new members have learnt Eisa from the scratch for this time too😊

'Chimu dondon' is an Okinawan dialect that signifies excitement and anticipation, and our performances are full of it! Alongside classical melodies played on the sanshin and Ryukyuan flutes, Okinawan folk songs, we will showcase vibrant Ryukyuan dance, dynamic Eisa drumming, breathtaking karate demonstrations, and unique lion dances!
We'll also have special guests from Okinawa and collaborate with Okinawa enthusiasts from Sydney, as well as a didgeridoo player based in Fremantle who performs worldwide.

For those who have already got tickets for the event "Perth Okinawa Chimu Don Don Festival" on September 24th and for those who are still planning to attend, I'm sure you're curious about what kind of stages will be there. Well, wait no more!
We will now introduce the performers one by one.

Bringing out the full potential of the sanshin (3 stringed instrument) and Ichigoichie (4 stringed instrument), live performances with original songs, folk songs, and pops create a unique world view that makes you feel the new possibilities of Okinawa and is not bound by genre.
Eita
vocalist & sanshin player
He writes and composes songs, making full use of the charm of Okinawan performing arts that he has cultivated since childhood, and entertains the audience with his unique singing voice.
Masa
Ichigoichie & Chorus
While applying the knowledge of Ryukyuan music that he learned in his school days, he will make arrangements that maximise the potential of Eita's singing voice and sanshin.

Our Story
We are the Okinawan Dance Group based in Perth, Western Australia.
The founder of TIDA is from Okinawa, Southern part of Japan where has its unique culture. She has been practicing Okinawan traditional dance for nearly 20 years, and met another lady in Perth who is also a dancer from Ishigaki (South Okinawa). They have started to dance together since 2015, when TIDA was born.
TIDA has been performing several events and functions since, then we created ‘EISA- team’ the mixture of Drumming and Dancing in 2017 which includes very young players.
In addition, some of the Sanshin & Taiko players have joined to play the live music for our traditional dance in 2019.
