From a young age, children naturally communicate through art. You’ve probably caught them scribbling with crayons, markers, pens, and whatever else they can get their hands on.
Creating art isn’t just a fun, colourful pastime. It has a variety of unique, positive effects on preschoolers, young children, and teens that other activities don’t provide.
1. Art Stimulates Creativity and Problem-Solving Skills
An art project begins with a creative spark and lets kids bring their imagination to life, but it also strengthens their logical thinking skills too!
You’ve probably heard about the somewhat-debunked right brain, left brain theory. The idea was that creative people were “right-brained” because the right brain is more visual and artistic, while the left brain is verbal, analytical, and detail-oriented.
The truth is that both sides work together, and art is an excellent tool for helping kids take a creative concept from start to finish, work through artistic challenges and mistakes, and have fun while learning.
We had a fantastic time in the nursery, engaging in various fun activities such as playing with farm animals, listening to rhymes, hand and foot painting, and bonding with our friends!
Today, we had the pleasure of listening to the tale of 'The little red hen', an enjoyable experience for all.
A fun-filled day in our nursery room! Exploring, bonding, and making friendships.
This week we welcome our new friends to the junior kindy room, four spiny leaf insects!
Over the next few weeks our friends will be visiting us so we can learn how to care for them.
We showed off our gentle hands whilst holding them (some children were more keen than others!) and each had a turn giving them a drink using the water spray bottle.
Feel free to come and see our new insects but please ask before touching them and ensure the cage is closed properly as they like to escape!
We also made our own little critters out of pipe cleaners and explored the sorting coloured bugs
🐞 🍃 🐜 🍂 🦟 🍃
Painting with cotton tips while enjoying our beautiful weather outside. ☀️
The children show great creativity and love for painting. Painting develops colour recognition, fine motor strength and creativity.
Another great day in our Nursery room.
Why do we practice fire drills in childcare?
Regularly rehearsing your service's emergency and evacuation rehearsals is important in ensuring children and staff know what to do in the event of an emergency and can assist you in informing children as to what they should expect in the event of an emergency without scaring them or undermining its importance
We assembled our worm farm today, which consists of several stackable trays, and gained insight into the worms' functions and feeding habits, such as their ability to break down food waste into nutrient-rich compost.
Give your child the opportunity to enjoy a fun, safe environment where they can explore, make friends and learn! 🥳
Our Centre is open Monday to Friday from 6:30am until 6:00pm.
If you would like your child to attend a centre that truly cares, reach out to our friendly team to organise a tour. 🥰

Last week was National Reconciliation Week. National Reconciliation Week is an opportunity for childcare services to reflect on their role in the reconciliation process and to take action toward building respectful and inclusive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Our newest addition to the junior kindy room, Miss Phoenix shared her culture with us this week.
Miss Phoenix comes from the Gomeroi clan Tribe & the Noonuccal People.
We had such a great week learning all about our First Nations people.
Miss Phoenix even organised a special visitor Ethan to come and show us the didgeridoo. We got to see the amazing paintings on this didgeridoo and Ethan even showed us some amazing sounds this instrument can make.
Thankyou so much to Phoenix and Ethan for contributing to this years reconciliation week - now more than ever!
It's harvest time! Today, we picked lettuces, oregano, parsley, basil, and rosemary from our garden. Families were able to take home some fresh vegetables from our garden.

Let's get messy!
Messy play is great for kids' development! It's all about letting them explore different textures and materials, like mud, paint, or sand, in a sensory-rich environment. It encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and sensory processing. Plus, it's loads of fun!

Developing gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination through activities like stacking boxes is crucial for children's physical development. As they grasp, lift, and place each box, they're honing coordination, balance, and muscle strength. Plus, the stacking process teaches them spatial awareness and problem-solving skills, laying a foundation for more complex tasks later on. It's a fun and engaging way for them to learn and grow!
Engaging in an obstacle course is another fantastic way for children to develop their gross motor skills. Maneuvering through tunnels, climbing over obstacles, and balancing on beams all require coordination, strength, and agility. It's a dynamic and exciting way for kids to challenge themselves physically while improving their overall motor skills and confidence.
Today, our little ones in the nursery room were busy enhancing their gross motor skills! With each stride, they were strengthening essential abilities such as coordination, balance, and strength!
