I was told that gluten was not a good match for me for many years. Throughout my life I dealt with many skin issues, rashes and later on intense gut pain. I would follow the advice I was given by numerous health professionals to cut out gluten and I would do this for a time, but gluten seemed to be everywhere so I would eventually give in and go back to eating all the gluten filled things I loved, like pasta and bread. So the skin issues flared up and the gut pain came back occasionally. I ate a well balanced diet with plenty of vegetables and mainly wholefood meals, but the gluten in my diet was continuing to cause underlying problems that I was completely unaware of.
I had the biggest wake up call about what gluten was doing to my body when my partner and I were trying to conceive a baby. After trying to conceive for nearly 3 years I went to my doctor and through testing we discovered that I had Hashimotoβs Disease (a thyroid disease) that was affecting my fertility and putting my body under a lot of stress. My doctor referred me to a fertility specialist who informed me that I needed to cut out gluten and dairy and take some herbal medicine to balance my hormones. Within 2 months of cutting out these foods and taking the herbals we conceived a baby!
Now I understand how much gluten and dairy effects my body, I take it seriously and feed my body the nutritious foods that it needs. I am so grateful for all the things I have learnt on this journey of healing my body and then the healing journey I later went on with my daughter when she began to have skin issues as a newborn baby.
I am especially grateful that this journey of healing led me to creating Danielleβs Healthy Delights. I am so passionate about sharing my knowledge about healthy gluten and dairy free foods and how delicious they are. I love talking with people about nutrition, the importance of enjoying your food and being mindful as you eat. I love sharing my knowledge that healthy eating is easy once you get in the habit of it, like anything in life it just takes practice to form the new habit.
I feel very blessed to be able to speak with people about nutrition on a daily basis while providing food that nourishes their bodies. I love sharing recipes for gluten free and dairy free meals. I will be sharing some more recipes very soon. Please feel free to tell me what kind of recipes you would like me to share. I am always experimenting with new recipes, I get so much joy from it
I have an excess of activated sunflower seeds at the moment. So I'm using this as an opportunity to experiment with new recipes π
I'm making bliss balls for my daughter to snack on during the school holidays.
Sunflower seeds are an excellent source of many essential vitamins and minerals including zinc and selenium.
Zinc supports our immune function and as an antioxidant it fights off free radicals.
Selenium plays a role in fighting inflammation and infection, aswell as boosting our immune system. It is an important component for brain health and preventing neurodegenerative disorders.
Hi there πI have noticed I have gained quite a few new followers to my page recently and thought I would introduce myself π
My name is Danielle, I live in Busselton with my partner Sean and our little girl Celeste.
I am very passionate about living a healthy holistic life and eating wholefoods. I love to uplift people and share the knowledge I have gained about health and wellbeing. I love to exercise everyday through either Yoga, Running, Beach Fitness, Gym workout or walking. I meditate everyday as I know it is the most important thing for my mental health and it gives me inspiration for the day. I love to listen to positive and inspiring podcasts. I love reading books about many subjects as I am always keen to learn new things. I love growing organic vegetables in my garden and I have a few citrus trees.
I went through a mental health journey during my 20βs, working through a lot of anxiety and depression which led me to becoming a Holistic Counsellor.
I went through a physical healing journey in my early 30βs, discovering gluten and dairy were affecting my fertility and later when my daughter was born, going on a healing journey with her to improve her gut issues. This journey led me to creating Danielleβs Healthy Delights.
I am so grateful for the challenges that I faced in my life as I can now look back on them and see what I gained from them. Although I felt like I was going through hell at times, I can now appreciate how much I have learned about myself and about health and wellbeing in general.
I appreciate the compassion I gained through my mental health journey, that I understand how people suffer in silence while appearing to be fine. I am so appreciative for the support I have been able to give my counselling clients.
I appreciate the knowledge about nutrition and gut health that I gained and am still learning. I get so much joy from providing food to people that not only tastes delicious but is also super nutritious for their bodies. Sharing my love of healthy and yummy food gives me such a thrill! I could talk about healthy food and nutrition all day long, there is always something new to learn and always new recipes and techniques to try.
Please feel free to ask questions about health and nutrition as I am always happy to help. Health and wellbeing are my obession
UPDATE: Sandra O'Callaghan has won the delicious box of Healthy Delights
I love kid's creativity ππ
My daughter and her cousin decided to create faces with kiwi fruit on their gluten free pancakes this morning π
Having fun with healthy food is a great way to encourage healthy eating π
The walnuts are now activated having been soaked in saltwater and dehydrated until crisp. Activating them means that their important nutrients such as magnesium and zinc can be absorbed by our bodies.
Nuts and seeds contain phytic acid. Phytic acid binds to minerals and cannot be absorbed in the body which can lead to mineral deficiencies and gut issues. Soaking nuts, seeds, grains and legumes breaks down the phytic acid so it can be absorbed properly.
Here is more information about the study on leafy greens and improved cognitive function. I really love reading this kind of stuff, it is so inspiring to see the countless benefits for eating healthy whole foods.
It would be interesting to see if those in the study who regularly ate leafy greens also ate a healthy balanced diet and exercised regularly which all have a cumulative affect on brain health and all over health and wellbeing
Daily Leafy Greens May Slow Cognitive Decline Eating one serving of leafy green vegetables a day may help preserve memory
I added extra spirulina to my fresh juice today because I love adding maximum nutrition to everything I ingest π
I was even more inspired when I read that a recent study out of Rush University found that people who ate just one serving of green vegetables per day had higher rates of cognitive function πππ
Greens also naturally lower your blood pressure, benefit teeth and gum health, support eye health and gut health....and much more.
Would you like me to show you other ways I get greens into my meals and also into the meals that my whole family will eat?
Preparing some walnuts to activate them to make their nutrients more bioavailable and easier to digest.
I learned a lot about activating nuts and soaking grains 8 years ago when my little girl was born and started reacting to most foods, causing her to be covered in rashes.
I'm so grateful for the knowledge I gained that supported her healing and now her beautiful skin is perfectly healthy.
This knowledge also improved the health of my family and inspired me to create Healthy Delights to support the health and wellbeing of my customers.
These nutrient dense walnuts are destined to be made into choc salted caramel cakes ππ
One of the raw Easter eggs that I was making for my daughter fell out of the freezer! π³

About me
Hi :-) My name is Danielle and I started Danielleβs Healthy Delights because I am passionate about healthy and nutritious food that looks and tastes great!
I have been interested in healthy food and recipes for most of my life, however my interest was really heightened when my daughter was a baby and I discovered she had food intolerances. Through lots of research, professional assistance, creative thinking and patience I discovered the foods that were causing my daughters body to react, eliminated those foods and supported my daughters body to begin its healing journey.
