Pendergast Apiaries
Pendergast Apiaries is a small, family-run beekeeping enterprise with hives all across the Riverina region.
If you're in Junee this morning I'm selling my local Junee honey at the Loftus Markets, outside the Loftus. I've got pure beeswax ingots and candles on the table, too. Hope to see you there.
Kelly Male made this beautiful lemon lotion bar using some of our beeswax, and very kindly gave us one! She picked the perfect mould for it, and both of us loved how the bar felt on our hands. Thank you so much, Kelly! 😊
(For some reason it won't let us tag her directly, but you can find her here: https://facebook.com/kelly.wyhoon)
I happened across this swarm in the air today, and followed it until it landed near the Sladen Street railway crossing (I always love watching the complicated patterns that a swarm in flight makes -- even better when it lands somewhere that won't require a 20ft ladder to grab them!). Went and fetched the apprentice, and together we successfully rehoused and removed them. This makes swarm no. 5 that we've picked up around town, over the last fortnight. 🐝
BIG SWARM UPDATE: It stayed, made itself at home, and has a beautiful big queen laying up an absolute storm! We've given the colony a second box, because they were just about busting at the seams. Caught another, smaller swarm today, and will check on them in a week as well -- photos to come, stay tuned! 💛
Apprentice Bec got called out to Sunnyvale to catch a monster swarm today, and will bring them home tomorrow -- here's hoping they like their new digs enough to stay! 🐝
A visitor to our "Nectazee" dwarf nectarine (Prunus persica). Chonk pollen pants! 🐝
Wallflower "POEM Mandarine" (Erysimum cheiri). Omnomnom! 🐝
Rosemary grevillea. Plus bee. 🐝
An early taste of the season ahead! Henty's bees (and other native pollinators) enjoying some wild-sown canola growing beside the railway track.
A nice winter cluster and brood pattern in one of our hives at Scotts Angus. Now to leave them alone until spring!
We're very happy to now have our honey available at Mumma J's Food Hub in Culcairn! 🍯
A hard-working little drawing sustenance from baby sage (Salvia microphylla), on a sunny autumn day! Watching at work is one of the most rewarding things about gardening. ❤
The are loving these beautiful (Erysimum cheiri)! These flowers are native to Greece, but seem to be doing well in the climate. When buying plants this season, don't forget to think of our little flying friends! 😊
On these sunny autumn days, the girls are still hard at work... 🐝
