We’ve done plenty of online shopping and thought it could be done a lot better. Finding new stores and keeping on top of sales often involved trawling through search engines, receiving dozens of emails or if you’re lucky, picking up a new gem in an article or blog. We were all too familiar with the frustration of buying something, and then finding out that that exact item was on sale at another st
ore, at a strong discount, at the same time. After expressing our mutual frustration with this over a few drinks, we thought wouldn’t it be great if you could go to one site, find a new store, see if it’s got a sale on, then go and check it out. If you didn’t like it, you could come back and try again – no more emails, no more search engines, no more overpaying. We hatched an idea to make this process possible and started compiling stores that we liked or had heard about and wanted to check out. During this, we realized that one of our most reliable sources of information was recommendations from our friends - so we devised a way to incorporate this into our site via sharing and recommendations. We also noticed that people loved to recommend new bars and restaurants they’ve been to– even though we weren’t explicitly asking for them - so we thought why not include them as well? What we were left with was a forum where people could come to in order to collect or share relevant info, be it a store, sale, bar or promo, and never be left in the dark again. This idea has quickly grown into a functioning beta version website and app, with exciting additions on the way. We are excited to introduce Tappa, your one stop spot where everything is just a tappa way.
