✨💫 Homebirth Transfer Circle 💫✨

This beauty is finally scheduled and I'm really excited to sit in circle with a bunch of mothers who have been through the complex journey that is homebirth transfer.

We hope to nurture, nourish, witness, and help to heal over a special two hours in circle together. We'll be sharing our stories, releasing unhelpful and limiting beliefs, thanking our bodies with self-care rituals, reconnecting to our mother selves.

If you experienced a transfer at any point over your planned homebirth journey, however recent or not this may have been, I'd love to invite you to join us.

Pricing is sliding scale for accessibility, price guide provided. Limited spaces to ensure an intimate group for a sensitive topic, so book in ASAP if you're keen. Babes in arms welcome. Any other details in the event page linked below, or send me DM 🥰

Hope to see you there!

Glenbrook Yoga Space turns 10 05/08/2024

Very excited to have this article in the Blue Mountains Gazette! Ten Years!!! 🥳

If you don’t have a log in - here is the wording-

‘Glenbrook Yoga Space is celebrating 10 years since it first opened the doors of its studio at 14A Hare Street Glenbrook.

Suzanne Ellis, operator of the studio, said she was inspired to train as a yoga instructor and start teaching yoga after she experienced the benefits of attending regular classes herself.
She held her first classes in community halls and dance studios, but soon realised the advantages of having a space to call her own, where she could have mats and props and other equipment on hand, and where she could create a unique yoga space.

"The studio building was previously occupied by my accountant. I used to think what an unlikely place it was for an accountant, but what a great yoga studio it would make. When I found out the accountant was moving on, I jumped at the opportunity to set up here," she said.

"The last 10 years have proved my initial impressions were correct. I feel so lucky to have found such a place.
"My philosophy is that yoga is for everybody, and every body type - we have a range of classes that cater for adults, kids, teens, seniors, mums and bubs, and during pregnancy - and we have created a welcoming environment for everyone."

Ms Ellis has continued to expand her knowledge - she has qualifications in yoga therapy, naturopathy, nutrition, somatic exercise and meditation.

"I have continued to learn ways to help with the physical, mental and emotional needs of clients, delivered in small group classes, or individually in private sessions," she said.

Practitioners in acupuncture, massage, craniosacral therapy, reflexology and psychotherapy are also based at the space. For more details visit www.glenbrookyoga.com.au or call 0413 923 791.’

Getting ready for the August Share the Dignity Drive at GYS! The collection box will be in the studio again from this week. Grateful for any donations big or small.
🌻💛

WOW, what an incredible journey it has been since our very first Dignity Drive in 2015! Back then, our Founder, Rochelle, collected 450 packets of period products from her PT clients after reading that some women were having to use socks, toilet paper and newspaper to manage their period. Since those early days, we've witnessed a truly remarkable revolution.

Today, we stand in awe of the 4.8 million period products we've collected, a testament to the generosity and compassion of so many. Our mission has been powered by the unwavering dedication of thousands of volunteers and the invaluable support of over 3,000 partner charities. Together, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone has the dignity they deserve, regardless of their circumstances.

In 2019, we launched our partnership with Woolworths helping us to collect 945,140 period products through their stores. This collaboration, along with the support of countless businesses, has been instrumental in amplifying our impact and reaching even more people in need.

We are so excited to go into our 20th Dignity Drive this August. We’re hopeful in this drive we will collect our 5 millionth period product.

Thank you to each and every one of you who has been part of this incredible journey. Your kindness, commitment, and generosity continue to make a world of difference. Together, we are making real changes towards a future where everyone has free and dignified access to period products.

This is my experience of craniosacral therapy. It’s as if I get out of my own way so my body can find balance again. Kim has such a gentle, calm energy. Highly recommend!

HARMONIC RESONANCE….
I am blessed to be taught by so many bodies.
When Craniosacral Therapy aligns the body, the energy centres are more likely to ‘light up’.
When our heart centre ignites, it radiates out.
I feel we all have a unique frequency to radiate out into this world.
We are the SONG LINES on the earth.

Ten Years of Yoga at GYS!
Wow - I can’t believe it! I am incredibly grateful to the students who followed me from various local halls and dance studios to this beautiful space in 2014. It was such a giant leap of faith for me to take on weekly rent when I was used to paying for space by the hour.

Many more students have joined GYS since and I am amazed how this space survived the covid years. We learnt to adapt and offer online classes, something I had never envisioned.

I didn’t plan to open a studio, but I remember visiting my accountant at 14A Hare St and thinking what a lovely yoga space and therapy centre it would make. Not long afterwards I saw it was for lease - so of course I had to take a look.

My very wise 11 year old daughter came to look with me and promptly tested the space out by doing handstands against the walls. She said ‘You have to mum!’ And she was absolutely right. It was meant to be and here I am.

The space has allowed me to grow as a natural health practitioner and provide many more services so people can upgrade their health naturally - physically, mentally and emotionally, using the tools of natural medicine, nutrition, and yoga.

Thankyou to all the past yoga teachers and especially to the current teachers - Grace, Justine, Cat, Sam and Linda. Also the therapists Kim, Geoff and Maureen.

CHILDREN AND SCHOOL
Craniosacral Therapy may be particularly helpful for school attendees who are struggling with the onslaught of visual and sound stimulation. If your child finds their school environment stressful, it can manifest as tension around the jaw, sinuses, chest, or abdomen.
Inviting space and safety into the tissues of these areas helps to keep our children’s minds open and see the world through clearer lenses.
It can help with jaw expansion, digestive issues and sleep issues.
Releasing tension in the nervous system may help your child assimilate the overstimulation that can occur in a school environment.
Children’s sessions are usually 30-45 minutes long, depending on age.

25/05/2024

Kim has been working at GYS for 5 years now and has just started a page. This will make it a bit easier for me to let everyone know about her wonderful services! Part of her practice includes working postnatally with mums and bubs together in the same appointment. Read on for further information. 🌻

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY FOR MOTHER AND CHILD

Parent’s will often prioritise their children for treatments and delay their own self-care.
When seeing a baby or young one, I like to include a craniosacral session for the mother if possible.
I have a flexible approach and adjust the session to create safety and calm for mother and child.
I help the mother's body to release tension from nursing so that her neck, arms and chest are relaxed.
Creating space around the mother's nervous system, allows both mother and baby to enjoy a more calming bonding experience.
Releasing stress or shock in a child can assist with sleep, digestion, and a sensitive nervous system.
The birth experience for mother and baby is different and special for everyone. Craniosacral therapy can help the baby with their sense of body and being in this world, and help the mother's body recover post birth.

Meet the bearded, burly miners using yoga to overcome men's mental health stigma in the outback 09/04/2024

This is a great recent yoga news story.
‘Men in the outback mining industry are turning to yoga to help deal with stress and mental health.
A Mount Isa yoga program is helping to fill major gaps in outback mental health services, especially for men.
The local leader of the program is hoping to see even more men take to the yoga mat.’

Meet the bearded, burly miners using yoga to overcome men's mental health stigma in the outback A growing number of men is trading hard hats for yoga mats in an effort to combat the "gruelling" and isolating life of underground mining in the bush.

Just on product will make a difference!

You only need to donate one packet of period products to have a huge impact on someone’s life. For Nicole, just 1 packet would have lifted a huge weight off her shoulders.
Instead, Nicole had to choose between buying a bus ticket to get to uni or buying a packet of pads. She chose the bus ticket but stressed all day about leaking through her clothes, no one should have to face the indignity of period poverty.
If you can, please help someone like Nicole this March by donating period products at your closest collection point.

I’m excited to be a collection point for Share the Dignity this March!

Menstruating isn’t a choice but those experiencing period poverty often have to choose between purchasing period products or other essential items just to get by. They shouldn’t have to choose...

By donating period products you will ensure women, girls and those who menstruate who are experiencing or at risk of domestic violence, homelessness or poverty have access to period products when they need them.

All products in original packaging, including pads, tampons, reusable pads, period un**es, menstrual cups and incontinence products are accepted.

Share the Dignity was founded in 2015, and since then has collected and distributed over 4 million period products to those who menstruate.

Drop off is at Glenbrook Yoga Space 14A Hare St. Glenbrook (entrance king st next to number 26) There is a collection box at the studio or you can leave in the tub in the carport.
