I am delighted to share with you that from September 4th I will be offering Perimenopause consultations from a brand new location all of my own! I am so passionate about this work. It truly is the most rewarding area of work I have encountered in my 20+ years of practicing clinical medicine.

Musselroe Bay, in Tassie’s far north-east, is a stunningly beautiful bay with views to the Furneaux Islands and an abundance of wildlife.

This rainy Monday is the perfect day for a skin peel!

NSS 2024 Conference
We were invited to a dinner organised by Candela and Rejuran. Dr John Sullivan (Kingsway Dermatology in Sydney) spoke about Candela’s newest device The Matrix - RF Microneedling, and how it can be used in conjunction with Rejuran, a new biomodelling agent. Combination treatments work well in stimulating collagen in the skin, and we were able to observe the benefit of one or both of these treatments.

Perimenopause and Skin

The NSS 2024 brought together its experts from Australia and around the world to talk about MENOPAUSE and its effects on skin.
With Menopause there is a loss of 30% of collagen in the first 5 years, followed by a 2% ongoing loss every year after. There are also other effects on skin from hormone changes.
We were lucky enough to hear from Dr Ginni Mansberg and Dr Shauna Watts, who both spoke brilliantly on the subject. Our brains came away full of ideas on how we can continue to help our own patients.

Do you suffer from redness or rosacea?

The V-Beam laser is designed to treat these skin conditions by absorbing the oxyhemoglobin in the blood vessels rather than by the surrounding tissue.

Patients with blood vessels on the face had a visual improvement of 75% to 100% after 2-3 Vbeam 595 nm laser treatments.

Non Surgical Symposium (NSS 2024).
Dr Amy, Dermal Therapist Mel and Practice Manager Lou were lucky enough to travel to the Gold Coast from 13th-16th June for a jam packed three days of learning. The hot topics this year were:
- new regulations re advertising and marketing by aesthetic medical practices from AHPRA/TGA.
- photography equipment to observe and track skin changes with time.
- new technology for management of skin concerns.
and the biggest of all was
- discussions on perimenopause, menopause and skin, something that has been ignored for far too long, and is now on all our radars!!

What we didn't learn in medical school! The importance of female hormones and management of menopause and perimenopause - that is to say - the importance of hormone replacement therapy. We had a fantastic weekend at the
ASAPS on the Gold Coast! A big thank you to dranh_femaleplasticsurgeon for her insightful presentation on treating surgical scars with the Nordlys system and to Dr. Mary Dingley for sharing her experience with the Matrix system. Our live Matrix RF microneedling treatments at the stand were also a highlight. We enjoyed connecting with our customers, meeting new faces, and learning about the latest industry trends. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone there again in 2025!
