Aurora Art Therapy
Welcome to Aurora Art Therapy. Art therapy to help you Create, Heal & Grow. And I love it! For the first time in my life I am truly loving my work!
Art therapy is my perfect combination of creativity, helping those in need, facilitating change and wellbeing in people's lives and working in a role that makes a positive difference. I am currently balancing my art therapy work between my private practice and working in a community based art studio. This moment - right here, right now - is exactly where I want to be. This is what I do, this is what I love.
MIECAT is where I studied my Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice and I loved my studies and the experiential and emergent way they work. I am lucky enough to be on staff at MIECAT now and I am so happy to working alongside passionate people in an environment that is aligned with so many of my values.
New MIECAT postcards have just landed! Please come and grab a few from the MIECAT office and help spread the word.
We are now accepting applications for our Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice starting in 2020. Please get in touch to book into the next information session

Collaborative art at it's very best. What a joy!
“Ali and the Long Journey to Australia” is an exquisite film. May we all be open hearted and hear one another’s stories with compassion and respect.
I met with Victoria recently and really loved her work and passion for the Colour By Numbers Documentary project.

“Without art there is an incompleteness that nothing can overcome. Through correlation and efficient cooperation, artwork becomes ‘a helping hand, a kind of connecting link that binds all subjects to it and makes every study at school more interesting and valuable.'”

Supportive creative arts in an educational setting...
It Takes a Suburb: A Town Struggles to Ease Student Stress Lexington, Mass., is fighting the joy-killing, suicide-inducing performance anxiety so prevalent in turbocharged high schools. It has not been easy.
"Evidence shows that creative contributions depend on the breadth, not just depth, of our knowledge and experience. In fashion, the most original collections come from directors who spend the most time working abroad. In science, winning a Nobel Prize is less about being a single-minded genius and more about being interested in many things. Relative to typical scientists, Nobel Prize winners are 22 times more likely to perform as actors, dancers or magicians; 12 times more likely to write poetry, plays or novels; seven times more likely to dabble in arts and crafts; and twice as likely to play an instrument or compose music."
How to Raise a Creative Child. Step One: Back Off Child prodigies rarely become adult geniuses who change the world. Originality is difficult to encourage but easy to thwart.
Oh my goodness. I have stood in a room created by Yayoi Kusama at MONA in Hobart and loved it. What an inspiration she is!
