We are devastated to share that Enova Community Energy and Enova Energy, its retail electricity arm, have been placed into voluntary administration, with Cathro & Partners appointed to manage the administration process.

This is a sad day for Enova and we wanted to reflect on some highlights over the past six years:

· Launching as Australia’s first community-owned electricity retailer built by the people, for the people

· Powering around half our customers for most of Enova’s history through our own customers’ rooftop solar

· Building a movement of 1,600 shareholders and 13,200 customers across all of NSW and South East Queensland

· Delivering the NCCH Solar Garden in partnership with NCCH, COREM and Splendour in the Grass

· Leading the Byron Bay Arts & Industry Estate Microgrid pilot project with Essential Energy, LO3 Energy, Wattwatchers and UNSW

· Collaborating with the Good Car Co on the Northern Rivers electric vehicle community bulk-buy

· Through the generosity of customers and supporters, donating over $180,000 to community organisations locally and nationally in the last two years, including to the Black Dog Institute, Children’s Ground, Liberation Larder, The SHIFT, Byron Bay Community Centre, Community Living Association and BlazeAid

· Ranking first with 5 stars in the Green Electricity Guide by Greenpeace, second by CHOICE for customer service and environmental sustainability, winning Canstar’s Green Excellence Award and named by Finder as Green Retailer of the Year.

A huge heartfelt thank you to our wonderful team, customers, community partners, suppliers, shareholders and lenders who have been an integral part of the Enova journey. Please continue to champion the need for a rapid transition to a much-needed distributed renewable electricity model in Australia.

We recognise that cost of living pressures are making themselves felt, from food costs, to petrol prices and now increases in the cost of energy across the market.

And in the meantime, temperatures have dropped and it's cold. While layering up and getting the warm woollies out can help, we know there are times when you've just got to put the heater on to stay warm and comfortable!

We asked our Energy Coach, who is a real expert in saving energy, for his top advice on winter energy efficiency. We've published it as a blog along with other helpful information to help you stay comfortable this winter, use energy wisely and save on energy where you can.

Amidst these unprecedented times within the energy market, we are excited and truly humbled to have been announced the winner of the Finder AU Green Energy Retailer of the Year award for 2022. Judged on broad and sector-specific environmental metrics including greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy usage and waste avoiding landfill.

This award follows our 5-star rating in the Green Electricity Guide by Greenpeace Australia Pacific, being named one of the best electricity providers for customer service and environmental sustainability by CHOICE for the second year in a row and taking out Canstar Blue's inaugural Green Excellence Award for our Energy Sourcing Strategy and General Market Offering.

Right now, our focus remains on doing everything we possibly can to navigate through this and achieve the best outcome possible for our customers. Still, we remain committed to championing the transition to a cleaner, reliable and more affordable energy future. We do, however, want to take a moment to truly thank Finder AU for this recognition and of course, our customers for your ongoing support.

Bowen says ‘no silver bullet’ to lower prices as energy market operator given power to buy and store gas 09/06/2022

As we all know by now, energy prices are going through an unprecedented period due to the increases in the energy wholesale market. This is being caused by a number of issues such as skyrocketing coal and gas prices due to increasing global demand and shortage of supply.

Our national wholesale energy market operates in a way that means costs across the entire market and across all energy sources, are increasing for retailers and ultimately making their way through to retail pricing for customers.

The speed with which we need to transition away from fossil fuel and towards renewables, including storage, becomes even more critical and clear, not just for our climate but for economic and social resilience.

We welcome the 11-point plan agreed by state and national energy ministers in their meeting yesterday, which is based on a response that is focused on more rapid and increased push for renewable energy investment, storage, and capacity. We also welcome and encourage the growing number of initiatives to support customers through this time from various governments.

We are working extremely hard at the moment to work through these challenging times in the market and for our customers.

We understand the pressures are very real for customers. We are doing everything we possibly can to navigate through this and achieve the best outcome possible for our customers.

If you are in a position where you are having trouble paying your bill, please contact us immediately, to see what we can do to assist with a number of options. Our customer service team can help to ensure you are receiving any rebate and concessions that you are entitled to. More information on options to assist can be found by visiting our Hardship Policy and Support page and our Rebates and Concessions page, or calling our team on 02 5622 1700.

BREAKING NEWS: We Won!

We are thrilled to announce that Enova Energy has received Canstar Blue's inaugural Green Excellence Award – Energy 2022.

Enova Energy has won a Green Excellence Award from Canstar Blue for our Energy Sourcing Strategy and General Market Offerings - a brilliant testament to our commitment to supporting the growth of renewable energy generation and ensuring our customers receive truly green offerings.

“As Australia's first community-owned energy retailer that's also a social enterprise, we're so proud to be awarded a Canstar Blue Green Excellence Award that recognises our commitment to renewables,” said Felicity Stening, Enova Energy Managing Director.

The judges were impressed with Enova Energy's efforts to provide energy sourced through renewables, rather than offset energy sources elsewhere and our overall business commitment to being a green and socially responsible energy provider.

“We've recognised Enova Energy for setting a new green benchmark that shows a strong commitment to sustainable energy generation. Rather than offering carbon offset products, Enova focuses on sourcing energy from renewables and therefore aims to tackle environmental issues earlier in the chain.,” said Jared Mullane, Canstar Energy Editor and an Awards judge.

What an incredible start to the year it has been for Enova Energy! This Award follows our 5-star rating in the Green Electricity Guide by Greenpeace Australia Pacific and being named one of the best electricity providers for customer service and environmental sustainability by for the second year in a row.
