The 2024 Capricorn Academy season is almost over but we have a great education opportunity available for association coaches at our last camps next weekend.

Capricorn Netball is opening the doors of the final 2024 camps to association coaches from throughout the region and running our first ever 'Connecting the Dots between Club and Academy' open days. The sessions will be led by coach educator Karen Topp from KMT Performance. Karen has been working with each of the squads in the academy program and, along with offering key insights into the purpose and goals of each program, she will guide attendees through developing and delivering effective sessions for their own club athletes.

The weekend will include three separate two-hour workshops and coaches can attend one or more sessions. Whilst the topics will be similar, each session will provide a different perspective based on the squad groups/ages.

The program for the weekend is as follows (full details attached):

Session 1:
Saturday, August 17 - 10am to 12pm - Gold Academy (16-18yrs) - Duggan Hall, Rockhampton Grammar School
Focus on skill development, progressions, modifications and feedback

Session 2:
Saturday, August 17 - 1pm to 3pm - Fire Academy (14-15yrs), Emmaus College, Rockhampton
Focus on the link between skill development and game play.

Session 3:
Sunday, August 18 - 8.30am to 10.30am - Stars Academy (12-13yrs) - Emmaus College, Rockhampton
Explore the link between effective strength and conditioning as a base to skill development

Coaches are welcome to attend all three or choose one or two sessions.

Congratulations to our recently selected 2024 Capricorn Gold athletes.
Gold personnel in 2024 are head coach Sam Dippel, assistants Kasi Richardson, Jo Farmilo and Kacie Crawford and manager Jo Boothby.
Gold will hold their first camp for the season next weekend.

A reminder the Capricorn Netball AGM will be next Sunday, April 28 @ 10am.
Information and committee nomination forms have been distributed to member associations.
Committee nominations close on Tuesday, April 23. Nomination forms are available from your association or by contacting the Capricorn secretary at [email protected].

It's been a big week for Capricorn Netball alumni... Congratulations to Emerald Netball Association president, Nanette Hall, who this week was made an Honorary Life Member of Netball Queensland.
Nanette was recognised for her unwavering dedication to netball and extraordinary service to our sport over the past 46 years.
She is the first NQ Life Member since 2015.
Along with her contribution to ENA, Nanette was a longtime member of the Capricorn branch and has always been a staunch advocate for netball in regional, rural and remote Queensland.
Congratulations, Nanette!

CONGRATULATIONS to former Capricorn Academy squad and regional coach Anna Young for attaining her Elite Coach Accreditation this week.
Elite is the second highest coach accreditation level in Australia and places Anna, who is currently Qld's U17s head coach, among some of the country's most talented.
Well done and very well deserved!

Capricorn Netball's on-line AGM will be held on Sunday, April 28 @ 10am.
Information and committee nomination forms will be distributed to member associations in the coming days. All positions will vacant.
