I’ve been a walker since I was eight years old. I walk most days, around the St Kilda neighbourhood but I could end up anywhere! I see all sorts of amazing things when I’m walking – beautiful houses, puppy dogs, lots of people. 🌞

Advice: There is some way of finding movement that you enjoy – it could be anything – as long as you let yourself explore.

Better Health Network had a fantastic day at Victorian Parliament yesterday as we officially launched Community Health First.
It was wonderful to be joined by one of Australia’s leading healthcare voices, Dr Norman Swan, who highlighted the unique collaborative capacity of community health services and our ability to deliver exceptional clinical care, whilst also addressing the social determinants of health.
Brilliant to also hear from many of the different voices of community health – consumers, lived experience support workers, community leaders and clinicians – a wonderful display of the breadth of care offered in community health settings.
Thanks to Parliamentary Secretary for Health Infrastructure Tim Richardson for joining us for the launch, along with Dr Sarah Mansfield for hosting the event at Parliament House.
Our official launch is just the beginning, as we continue to work with our partners in Government and the community to deliver better health outcomes for our communities.

February 14 is HeartKids Sweetheart Day, a national event held each year to raise awareness of congenital and childhood acquired heart disease (CHD), which affects eight babies born in Australia every day. Four precious lives are lost each week, making this complex condition with no known cure, one of the leading causes of infant death in the country.

We are proud to announce the opening of the Prahran Priority Primary Care Centre. The centre is operated by Sandringham Ambulatory Care Centre (part of Better Health Network) in partnership with The Alfred.

Priority Primary Care Centres help Victorians who need urgent care get help faster, while keeping our busy emergency departments free for those in critical, life-threatening situations. The centres can assist people with non-life-threatening conditions such as moderate infections, fever, suspected fractures and sprains, minor cuts, burns, heartburn, vomiting, nausea, and more.

Yesterday, Better Health Network CEO, Damian Ferrie and Alfred Health CEO, Professor Andrew Way visited the centre to meet with some of the team before today’s opening.
Located across the road from The Alfred Hospital, GPs and nurses at the centre will assess you when you arrive and ensure you receive immediate care.

If you need specialist attention, the team will help you get to a nearby emergency department.
