In Term 2 Holidays, a group of Senior students travelled to Mount Buller, Victoria for our annual combined Snow Trip with King’s Baptist Grammar School. ⛷️❄️

Students had daily lessons with an instructor in skiing or snowboarding and even got to carve the snow at night time to some DJ music. 🎶

Hot chocolates, coffees, and teas were consumed in large quantities throughout the trip and in the evenings, students played games in our private lodge with one another. Mount Bulla treated us well!

Old Scholar Henry Smith (2020) made his AFL debut playing for the Brisbane Lions on Sunday at the Gabba, winning against the Sydney Swans by 2 points. 🥇

Well done Henry for getting 2 kicks, 2 handballs, 2 marks, 3 tackles and 4 disposals. Henry says “I’ve been here for four years now biding my time in the VFL, so to get the call up to run out on Sunday I am over the moon and my family is rapt for me,” Smith said.

For more details on how he got here and to watch a video interview of Henry, you can visit the article below: https://www.lions.com.au/news/1603876/debut-announcement

Toy Story Challenge 🐻

Our Inter-House Challenge took a fun and imaginative turn for our Secondary Home Groups this year. Each Home Group received three unloved teddies for each House Team being Ruby, Topaz, or Emerald. 🎉

The fun kicked off with a series of creative challenges. First, each teddy needed a name. Next, students composed a meaningful poem about their new furry friend. Then, students got their creative juices flowing by taking imaginative photos of their teddies. 🎬

The grand finale? Designing and building a house for their teddies! 🏰

Wheelie Day at Brooklyn Park 🛞

Our Foundation students at Brooklyn Park had a rip-roaring day cruising around on bikes and scooters! 🚴‍♀️

Learning to ride on wheels for their Science class focused on Movement, including using safety equipment such as helmets, they spent their lesson doing laps around the undercover courts.

Plus, who knew that learning about the different signals and directional signage could be so much fun? ⬅️

Healthy Eating in Home Economics 🍉

Secondary students recently taught our Junior School students about healthy eating as part of the Year 10 Home Economics curriculum, Life Stages and Nutrition. 🍽

Through fun activities like creating smoothies and cupcakes together, the Year 10s taught the Junior School students about making good food choices. 🥙

A tasty time of learning for all. We hope all of our students are making healthy food choices these holidays!

Costumes for Seussical Jr. 🎩

It has been such a blessing to witness the Emmaus community, from parents to students, rally around Seussical Jr., spending endless hours devoted to projects like costume and set creation! 🪻

As part of their assessment, the Year 12 Child Studies students created costumes for our 40 Foundation students, focusing on the formation of identity in children through belonging. The Sewing Club has also put their skilled hand into bedazzling costumes. 🪡

We are so grateful to this incredible community- thank you so much to all who have helped!

Year 12 Drama Production 👒

Our Year 12 Drama student group, titled ‘Moontide: Rising minds, ideas and stories,' performed the highly emotive ‘Be My Baby’ theatre production by Amanda Whittington.

These talented students took us back to 1964, with most of the cast acting as pregnant young women sent in shame and secrecy to a Church in England to give birth. 🤰

Well done to these Year 12 students on a poignant performance that highlighted the pain and blessing of birth.

This term, the team at Ready Steady Go Kids visited our preschool children for their Physical Education classes. They have enjoyed trying their hands (and feet) at Tennis, Basketball, and Aussie Rules Football. 🏀

It has been a wonderful learning experience for our students, as they've stepped out of their comfort zones, learned new skills, developed new passions, and improved their hand-eye coordination. 🙌

Inspiring Hearts, Inspiring Minds

Emmaus Christian College provides high quality Christian education from Reception to Year 12, supporting families from all Christian denominations to prepare their children for the future.

Our aim is that students will graduate from Emmaus Christian College as confident and compassionate young adults, well-equipped to take their place in the world. We seek to foster a commitment to Jesus Christ and a passion to live life in such a way as to bring honour and glory to God.

Christian schooling is an extension of the education which Christian parents provide for their children in the home. While recognising that the home has the primary responsibility for the education of children, we see that the influence of Christian teachers, peers and curricula is significant in helping children develop as committed Christians and responsible, effective members of society.

We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God and is the standard by which all ideologies, philosophies and theologies are to be evaluated. Therefore, education should be Christ-centred, in accord with Biblical truths and principles, academically sound, and effective in helping individuals to serve God and others.
