This year's Resident Artwork competition is nearly upon us! With entries opening this July, let's take a moment to look back at some of last year's inspiring winners.
Mary and Lillian, residents of The Manors of Mosman in New South Wales, submitted their crocheted animals with a heartwarming purpose. The pieces were donated to young children living with their mothers in prison, and due to such a positive response, the pair expanded their donations to children undergoing surgery in hospitals.
Mary and Lillian's story is a beautiful reminder of the impact art can have. We can't wait to see what this year's talented artists will create! 🎨❤️
The Prosecco Van has recently been bringing joy to our wonderful Melbourne communities at Streeton Park and Redmond Park!
The turnout at each event was fantastic! Our residents absolutely loved the van, with its charming setup and free-flowing cocktails, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter, clinking glasses, and lovely conversations.
A big 'cheers' to The Prosecco Van Melbourne for creating such wonderful memories with us. Here's to many more celebrations and happy gatherings in the future! 🥂
We are excited to share that the community clubhouse upgrade works at Derwent Waters Retirement Village in Claremont, Tasmania have commenced! This refurbishment will deliver a warm, inviting and relaxing community clubhouse for residents to enjoy, all while taking in that stunning view over the Derwent River or Mt Wellington. We can’t wait to see the big reveal later this year! 😍
At our Redmond Park community in Princess Hill, resident Judy Frazer-Jans has organized over 100 concerts since 2012, showcasing talented music students and professionals! 🎵🎶
Judy shared, “I began the music series to provide a performance experience for music students from the Melbourne Conservatorium and Victorian College of the Arts. The original students have moved on in their professional lives, but several highly accomplished performers still return to Redmond Park because they love the atmosphere and wonderful acoustics. We were delighted to have Emily return for what must be her sixth or seventh performance.”
Emily treated the residents to a selection of opera and musical theatre favourites, accompanied by the talented pianist Deviani Segal. Emily said, “The room is beautiful and the piano first-class, I love coming back."
Thank you, Emily, Judy and Deviani, for a magical evening!
This week is Men's Health Week in Australia (10th-16th June) and this year's theme is Men's Health Checks!
𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫:
As we get older, our bodies need a bit more attention. Regular health checks can catch potential issues early, giving us the best chance to address them before they become serious. Routine screenings can help detect conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and prostate issues.
𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡:
• 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤-𝐔𝐩𝐬: Make it a priority to visit your GP regularly and discuss which screenings you need.
• 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬: Keep an eye on your blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar levels, and don't forget those prostate exams.
• 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞: Incorporate exercise into your daily routine and focus on a balanced diet to maintain your vitality.
Let's remind the men in our lives to stay vigilant about their health. Share this post, start a conversation, and encourage your friends and family to make health checks a regular part of their lives 💙
Peregian Springs resident Marty has loved the ocean and boats from a young age. He has spent most of his life surrounded by water, from teaching himself body surfing at 15 in Shellharbour, NSW, to being a long-service member with the Surf Life Saving Club of Australia, spending over 50 years patrolling our beaches.
Once moving to Peregian Springs Retirement Village 7 years ago, Marty decided to take up building model boats as a pastime and hasn't looked back since. His boats are a labour of love, each taking over a year to make, and are named after important things in his life. Each boat is meticulously crafted and includes functioning parts like working cranes, retractable anchors and sliding doors. Marty even ensures to build his boats in the traditional way, with the reel, ribs and planks of 'Careel Bay' all bent in the water and dried in the sun.
When he can, Marty takes his boats for a spin in the community's outdoor pool. Each boat has a functioning motor, allowing it to float seamlessly on the water for all to see.
Swipe below to take a look at Marty's marvellous creations! ⛵️
On this World Environment Day, we are delighted to celebrate Coral Mews Community Manager, Fiona Spargo!

Congratulations Fiona! This is a fantastic initiative and serves as an inspiration for us all to contribute to a more sustainable future 🌏
Last week for National Reconciliation Week, Cherry Tree Grove in Croydon held a planting ceremony for their new indigenous community garden 🌱
Residents were invited to collect a native seedling and plant it as part of the garden, symbolising the community's commitment to healing and taking meaningful steps towards equality.
Attendees also enjoyed a lovely morning tea whilst listening to Ben Moodie, an indigenous performer who shared his insights and a captivating musical piece on the Yidaki.
Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians, and each step brings us closer to a more just and unified nation. Together, we can create a future built on mutual respect and inclusivity for all ❤️
In southeast Melbourne, Edrington Park residents had an excursion to our Botanic Gardens community in Cranbourne 🏠
This trip's theme was 'resident garden tours' - an opportunity for Botanic Gardens residents to showcase their personal gardens, share tips and tricks, and show off how they use their spaces effectively in their backyards. The Edrington Park residents were also welcome to tour the new community centre and enjoy tea and coffee with Botanic Gardens residents in the freshly renovated space. The event's success has inspired Edrington Park to now host Botanic Gardens in their own community for a heritage-listed tour in July.
We love to see this kind of intercommunity connectedness, giving residents the opportunity to create new friendships and experience other Aveo communities for themselves. 🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🌈
For many of us, understanding and embracing different identities and experiences can be a journey. Pride Month offers a wonderful opportunity to learn, share, and show our support for friends, family, and neighbours who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. We believe that every individual, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued.
Whether you're attending local events this month, sharing stories, or simply having conversations with loved ones, every action helps create a more inclusive world ❤️
At our Crestview community in Hillcrest, residents regularly meet to unleash their creativity through crafting!
Meeting every Wednesday for over a year now, the group has produced an array of wonderful pieces, including quilts, children's toys, clothing, and bead art, to name a few. While their crafting is mainly for enjoyment, the group sometimes uses it to support good causes. Judy has generously donated her knitted dolls and caterpillars to Ronald McDonald House and school fundraisers, while Lorraine's handmade flowers commemorate ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day, distributed freely as heartfelt gestures.
What an extraordinary blend of imagination, enjoyment, and philanthropy!
Last week was Volunteer Appreciation Week, and to celebrate, the Cherry Tree Grove community in Croydon hosted a special event to honour their volunteers.
The community crafted a lovely hand-made cherry tree, and residents were invited to design a leaf and write a heartfelt message for a volunteer they wanted to thank. The response was overwhelming, with over 200 leaves created, resulting in the magnificent tree you see below. This activity beautifully showcases the significance of volunteers in our communities and the profound impact they have on our residents.
At Aveo, we are incredibly fortunate to have numerous volunteers who generously give their time, energy, and skills to support those in need and foster positive environments in our communities.
Here's to our amazing volunteers! 👏❤️

We were honoured to have a smoking ceremony to mark the start of construction on the second stage at Bella Vista Haven on Darug Land in Greater Sydney’s Hills Shire. Arranged by the teams at Growthbuilt and Aveo, the ceremony was performed by Uncle Graham Davis King, an internationally celebrated Wiradjuri and Ngiyampaa artist, author, dancer, and board member of the Deerubbin Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC). Members of the Bella Vista Residents Committee, as well as the Aveo and Growthbuilt teams, were invited to be part of the incredibly special ceremony to pay respect to the traditional custodians of the land.
Aveo is dedicated to encouraging greater involvement of First Nations Australians in our teams and communities, and these commitments are guided by our Reconciliation Action Plan. We acknowledge the deep connections to lands and waters held by First Nations People, show our appreciation to these lands and waters through our reconciliation initiatives and through our focus on environmental sustainability across all areas of our business, including development. Thank you to the Aveo and Growthbuilt teams for arranging this wonderful event at Bella Vista Haven.

At Aveo, we are privileged to have many veterans among us who selflessly protected our values and way of life. May we always remember and honour their legacy, ensuring that their stories are never forgotten.
To our veterans, past and present, thank you for your service. Lest we forget. ❤️
At our Mingarra community in Croydon, the resident veggie patch is unlike any other! 🥕🍅
When residents Bruce and Lyn secured a spot to grow vegetables in the garden, Lyn decided that simple name tags on each resident's plot were not enough; the plots needed some colour and life added to them!
So, as an ex-visual arts teacher, Lyn unleashed her creativity and decided to create individual figurines modelled after each resident who grows their produce in the veggie patch. Each figurine has a special name that connects it to its resident counterpart, such as resident Ruth, named 'Onyabike Ruth', who grows beans and beetroot 🚲
Lyn says the whole process of making each model takes about five hours, from assembly to painting and then coating in protective varnish. She is now onto her next project - decorating the outer wooden panels of the plots to make them truly stand out in the village.
Such a creative and fun initiative connecting residents to the garden! 🎍
Residents at Forest Grove in Durack were recently delighted with a flower-arranging session at their community 💐
A wide variety of flowers were sourced, including roses, gerberas, chrysanthemums, and baby's breath, to name but a few. The session was a hit, with 13 residents participating, each having the opportunity to take their vibrant creations home. Due to the overwhelming number of positive responses, the community has scheduled a second session for 3rd May. What a successful afternoon full of colour and creativity!
