When asked what advice MoneyPlace CEO, Kylie Waldock would give to women this she had this to say:

“I never realised it when I was growing up but upon reflection, I am very blessed to have had a father and mother who simply believed that my sister Paula and I could be anything we wanted to be. There was never any conversation on what a woman could/should or couldn’t/shouldn’t do. It was you literally can do anything.

At school it was the same — I went to a small co-ed primary and high school until grade ten and equally, it was you can do anything you want to. I was one of the first female drummers in the school band, I played all sports with both boys and girls and there was never any question about it. I then went on to boarding school which was an all-girls school and the message there was definitely ‘women can do anything’ at the time I thought ‘I know! I’ve been doing it!’.

But it was here that I started to realise not everyone had the same upbringing and there were barriers or inequity for some for a variety of reasons. When it came to work it was the same story. I never saw the barriers or differences between men and women, I just did the roles that I wanted to do.

I think the message for me is women really can do anything, but it is up to us to see it, believe it, go after it and if necessary, fight for it!”
