🌍🎤 Meet one our Inspiring Guest Speakers for MUNASH 2023! 🌟
✨️IMOGEN KANE✨️
Imogen Kane is the 2023 Australian Youth Representative to the United Nations. This role will see Imogen conducting consultations around Australia and presenting youth issues and experiences to the United Nations as part of the Australian Mission with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
Imogen is a gender and youth advocate who promotes quality holistic education as a key lever to addressing gender inequality, societal divisions and youth issues. She has experience working with diverse domestic and international teams in the field of development, education and gender research. Imogen is currently studying a Master of International Relations (specialising in Gender, Peace and Security) and has a Bachelor of Global Studies (specialising in International Relations) from Monash University. She is passionate about the cross cutting issues of gender in international relations, and the role and representation of youth perspectives in global forums.
As last year’s Secretary General, Imogen is a testament to how far MUNash and MIAS can take you and we are so excited to hear about how far she has gone in the last year and her experiences representing Australian youth in New York at the 78th United Nations General Assembly.

✨️Dr Sandro Demaio✨️
Dr Sandro Demaio is the CEO of VicHealth, a medical doctor, and a public health expert and advocate.
He held the role of Medical Officer for non-communicable conditions and nutrition at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland for 6 years. Dr.Demaio was also previously CEO of the EAT Foundation; the science-based, global platform for food systems transformation where he oversaw the global launch of the EAT-Lancet Commission. He is a member of the Nutrition Strategy Advisory Board, for Pictet Group in Switzerland.
Dr.Demaio has published more than fifty-five scientific papers, including publications in The Lancet and The BMJ.
Dr.Demaio originally trained and worked as a medical doctor at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. He holds a Masters degree in public health, a PhD in non-communicable diseases and has held fellowships at Harvard Medical School, Copenhagen School of Global Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the University of Melbourne.
In his pro bono work, Sandro co-founded NCDFREE, a global social movement against chronic disease which reached more than 2.5 million young people in its first 18 months. In 2015, he founded festival21, assembling and leading a team of experts in staging an unprecedented free celebration of community, food, culture and the SDGs in his hometown of Melbourne. Then in 2018, he established an independent, not-for-profit foundation focused on improving the health and nutrition of young Australians.

Our Story
Hosted by the Monash International Affairs Society (MIAS), MUNash is a two day Model United Nations conference held at the beginning of the Mid-Semester 2 Break on September 24-25.
MUNash aims to introduce first-timers to the world of Model UN, where one can experience the thrill of debating major global issues on the international stage. With stimulating discussions and fun social nights to remember, this year promises to be better than ever.
