What are non-carious cervical lesions ????

They are different from tooth decay. They are areas of tooth wear along the gum line and looks like a hollowed out smooth or sharp dip in the side of the tooth.

It is more common on teeth with gum recession and in people who clench or grind their teeth.

As the areas of tooth wear deepen it may result in plaque build-up, irritated gums or tooth sensitivity. In severe cases it can weaken the teeth causing nerve damage or fractures.

Determining the cause is the best way to prevent the wear from worsening. Contact us as soon as you notice these lesions, so you have them assessed and treated early.

Periodontal disease (severe gum disease) in people with current or previously uncontrolled diabetes is extremely common.

Weekly Wisdom: Tips for cleaning between your teeth.

🦷 A toothbrush cannot reach the spaces between your teeth where bacteria like to hide.
🦷 Both Children and adults should be cleaning between their teeth daily, for the same reasons that we brush each day.
🦷 Clean between your teeth before brushing
🦷 Floss, interdental brushes, water flossers and flossettes are tools we can use to clean between our teeth. Speak to your dental professional about which is best for your mouth.
🦷 When using floss, gently the wiggle the floss between your teeth and wrap the floss in a 'C-shape' to rub the sides of the teeth.
