“Our Kindergarten children had a great time being little woodworkers! Jim from Little Woodworkers provided wonderful hands on experience for our Kinder 1&2 class. Kinder 1 children made their 4 legged friend whereas Kinder 2 children made a racing car! After that the children freely explored their creative ideas with various wood pieces. It was amazing to see their creative juices flowing!”

Thank you for having us back Goodstart Early Learning Carrum Downs - Hall Road. It was so much fun working with your *little woodworkers*. ;)
This week our three and four year old kinders had a fantastic incursion come to visit, called little woodworkers, such a great experience all the children got involved and had so much fun, while getting to make their own bird feeders to take home. The children got so much out of this experience, including what they can make out of wood also getting to use the tools to help put together their own bird feeders
Wow, this is AMAZING! 💚 Thank you so much for having us back Petit Early Learning Journey Forest Hill (Petit Early Learning Journey), for sharing these gorgeous images in a REEL and for TAGGING us. It means a lot. 🙏
We loved being back Mentone Grammar ELC recently. 🌿
What did the Teachers say?
“Our ELC students had a blast on Thursday 2 May during the incursion! Under the guidance of experts, the children became carpenters, crafting their very own wooden toys while diving into the world of sustainability, the environment, and the amazing animals around us.”
“This hands-on experience allowed our future builders to unleash their creativity and learn valuable skills in woodworking. From measuring and sawing to sanding and decorating, they developed fine motor skills, spatial awareness, and problem-solving abilities. Plus, they gained a deeper understanding of sustainable practices and the importance of caring for our environment. 🏗️🌍🌱”
“The children enjoyed every moment of the experience and the best part was taking away their very own hand made creation,” said Peta Stubbs (Director of ELC).
Comment the word INFO if you want us to visit YOUR centre. 😊 If you are further away or interstate, comment the word PACKS. 🎁

I just came across these images again of our woodwork incursions we did last year…
We were back yesterday for the 9th year in a row!❗️
Time flies when you’re having fun! ⚒️
On another note, this week I deliberately searched for posts about our Little Woodworkers® Programs on both Facebook and Instagram…
And I was surprised by how many posts I’ve missed over the years because we weren’t tagged. 🫣
So, for anyone sharing posts about a business, please, please, please always make sure to TAG the business you post about. 🙏
It only takes 2 seconds but helps a 100 fold…
In our case, it helps to keep us going.
Why?
Because it helps more teachers discover us, know we exist and find out more about us…
And with that more children get to experience our hands-on woodwork & sustainability programs. 🙏
Thank you for having us back yesterday. (I can’t wait to see the pictures you took. Make sure to TAG US 😉)
I just found this by chance from last year. 🙈 I had missed it at the time because we weren't tagged. Thank you for having us back today Goodstart Early Learning Frankston South - Frankston Flinders Road. Jim told me what a lovely bunch of kids they were, as always. ☺️ Should you share images of today, please make sure to TAG US Little Woodworkers. Tagging helps increase our reach (as well as your center's) so other teachers can find us too. It means more children get to experience what we do which, in turn, helps our small family business to keep going. It only takes 2 seconds but helps us 100 fold. Thank you so much. 🙏
Sharing is caring! 💗
We LOVE it when Teachers post images of our incursions after our visits. 🙏
The only thing, we miss so many of them because we are not tagged. 🫣
Sooo, if we visited your school or centre and you are sharing posts about us on social media, please, please, please always TAG US . ✅
It only takes 2 seconds but helps us 100 fold! 🙌
WHY? 🤷🏼♀️
Because tagging us helps us grow, increase our reach and, most importantly, helps other teachers find us too. 🔍
And the more teachers find us the more children get to experience working with wood, learning about trees, sustainability and taking care of our environment. 🌳🌎
Thank you for having us and for sharing these gorgeous images. 😊

There are many reasons why hands-on woodwork is so beneficial for children.
Here are just 7️⃣ of them:
1️⃣ CONNECTION TO NATURE: Woodwork connects children to natural materials, fostering an appreciation for the environment and sustainability. 🌳
2️⃣ CREATIVITY & IMAGINATION: Woodwork allows children to bring their ideas to life. They learn to think creatively, plan their projects and solve problems as they build, fostering a sense of accomplishment and pride.💡
3️⃣ FINE MOTOR SKILLS: Handling tools and (real timber) materials helps children develop their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. These skills are crucial for writing, drawing and other daily activities. 🤲
4️⃣ FOCUS & PATIENCE: Woodworking projects require attention to detail and patience. Children learn to concentrate on tasks, follow steps and see projects through to completion, enhancing their perseverance. 🤓
5️⃣ PRACTICAL SKILLS: Children gain valuable practical skills through woodwork, including measuring and assembling. These skills not only build confidence but also introduce them to basic concepts of math and engineering. 🧮
6️⃣ EMOTIONAL REGULATION: The tactile nature of woodwork can be calming and therapeutic. It helps children regulate their emotions, providing a productive outlet for stress and frustration. 🪵
7️⃣ COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION: Working on projects together encourages teamwork and communication. Children learn to share ideas, listen to others and work collaboratively towards a common goal. 🤝

We can’t wait to start your groups’ woodwork adventure! 😊
When we initially mentioned using our incursions with SRF Flexible Funding, we got it all wrong.
At the time we didn't realise that our woodwork incursions were not accepted as a Flexible Funding item because the *intent* of SRF is to upskill and empower EDUCATORS.
After corresponding with a few Teachers and the SRF Program Support Team, we now have a much clearer understanding…
After sharing our idea for a Professional Development Program with a few selected Educators, their enthusiasm was contagious.
So, after 10 years of facilitating over 1,500 woodwork incursions, it is finally time to introduce…
***
Little Woodworkers® TRAIN THE TEACHERS | Professional Development Workshops, Consulting and Mentoring for Educators.
***
The goal of the program is to help Educators support whole child development and effectively integrate woodwork into their educational settings.
The program aims to upskill and empower Educators by enhancing their knowledge, skills and confidence in using hands-on woodworking to support social and emotional regulation and development, fostering children's learning experiences and stronger FAMILY and COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS.
To clarify, Little Woodworkers® is currently NOT an approved SRF Menu Provider. We plan to apply in this year’s round of applications for SRFM inclusion in 2025.
In the meantime, if you plan to use SRF FLEXIBLE Funding with our program, we also provide a step-by-step Funding Plan Guide to assist with your KIMS application, including how our program aligns with the VEYLDF.
(Services that wish to spend some of their funding flexibly must discuss this with their ECIB.)

We have already received a lot of interest and can’t WAIT to work with Educators directly!!

🎉 We are turning 10 this year! 🌟 From a simple Show & Tell at our daughter’s Kindergarten to a thriving family business, Little Woodworkers® has journeyed through a decade of creativity, learning and joy!
🌱 ROOTS OF INSPIRATION:
It all started in 2013 when Jim, the Founder, a Cabinetmaker/Furniture Designer with a passion for teaching, was asked to craft a workbench for his daughter’s kindergarten. Instead of just making it himself, Jim saw an opportunity to involve all 22 children in the process, igniting their curiosity about wood, its importance and its connection to the environment.
🛠️ THE MAKING BEGINS:
The excitement was palpable on the day of the Show & Tell as Jim brought in wood, tools and his infectious enthusiasm. Witnessing the children’s joy and capability in woodworking sparked the idea of sharing this experience with more children.
🚀 A LEAP OF FAITH:
With unwavering belief in the potential of Little Woodworkers®, Jim and his wife, Kerstin, took a leap of faith with Jim leaving his job to turn this passion project into a full-fledged business.
✨ A DREAM TAKES SHAPE: A kitchen meeting with supportive Kindergarten Teacher friends, the birth of the name Little Woodworkers®, the creation of a vibrant logo and brand and the launch of the website marked the beginning of an incredible journey.
🌟 A DECADE OF IMPACT:
This year, as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary, we are filled with gratitude for nearly 40,000 children who have experienced the joy of woodworking through our unique interactive Woodwork INCURSIONS and later, since 2020, our hands-on engaging Woodwork PACKS. 🎁
Let’s continue spreading the magic of creativity and learning and inspire the next generation together! ✨
Join us in celebrating a decade of craftsmanship, curiosity and community. Secure your INCURSION date or order your Woodwork PACKS today and let more children unlock their creativity with wood! ✨🔨

📦ONLINE wooden toy kits now available! 🌿Fun engaging woodwork incursions & sustainability education
Before the world turned crazy, we provided woodwork incursions & sustainability education at preschools and primary schools all over Melbourne.
Teachers & parents always asked us, if they can purchase our products online. We always wanted to but never had the time to do it as we were constantly booked out with our woodwork incursions.
That all changed in March. 😷
We brainstormed and Jim, our toy maker, came up with new wooden toy/project kit designs and woodwork activity ideas to keep this valuable experience going.
