Kiln drying Balsa is the most important process in Balsa wood production. Do it right there is plenty of clean white Balsa wood to go around, do it wrong and there is a whole lot of light firewood.

Auszac EcoBalsa uses a system that allows waste and offcuts to create the specific temperature over the 12-14 days required to reduce the relative humidity to the desired 10-13% without cell distortion and cracking.

Here you'll see the final stack of wet Balsa being loaded at the Ulatawa Planation Sawmill in East New Britain, Papua New Guinea

Charity Update

You may be aware that when you come into our factory outlet shop, we have a "discontinued items box" We donate these items to be purchased for a gold coin donation to one of our three favourite causes.

Cancer Council
Assistance Dogs Australia
The Smith Family

Just in the month of NOVEMBER $200 was raised and 100% goes to these charities.

A special mention to Luke & Lynne for their generous donation towards Assistance Dogs Australia. In this day and age with the
cost of living at a high, it's heartwarming to know that people are still able to donate to these charities and help those less fortunate.

Message from one of our customers, great work Matt

Hi all,
Just thought you might like to see my model built almost entirely from ply and balsa purchased from your excellent range of products.
1/10 in scale, this is an RC stand off scale model of the survey vessel Investigator that was built in WA to survey the waters of South Australia.
Twin screw, twin rudder and an all up weight of 15 kg make this a substantial model.
The finish is all Australian made 2 pack from the Norglass range and yes the colours are correct for this Vessel.
The build took 2 1/2 years from some original drawings of the vessel.
A very complex and challenging build, with working navigation lights and interior detail it is now time to โ€œsurveyโ€ the local lake.
Hope you like her.

๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ 5 star review from wendy and paul: Balsa

I have been looking for really good quality Balsa for a long time in fact most of my building has been Foam board until now, things will change as i have found top class wood with exceptional service from a company who specialise in Balsa, Balsa Central Aero. I have been building model planes for well over 60 years and love everything about Balsa wood for this task, it use to be easy to get, now no one in our area handles it except Bunnings Hardware hah hah when they had it it was as dear as poison now they stock a substitute that would be useful building a chook pen it is that hard. Thanks to this great company who packed and sent my order in under a week to Victoria ( Aussie post weep your heart out ) i have a ready supply along with a good range of Ply wood and useful building stuff what more could a dedicated modeller want.

Balsa Central Aero Get exactly the balsa wood you need , and more, delivered quickly and easily to your door. Australia's largest online range of sustainably grown in PNG balsa and laser friendly thin plywood.

Great service and good quality. Soft and hard sheets for aircraft received well packaged and as requested. Jumbo box great for making fishing lures. Will definitely buy again. Highly recommended.

Agreed the landscape has changed and support local is so important for survival. personally the appreciation from our customers we have is humbling and we are forever grateful.

Small and family businesses are what makes Australia what it is.

Your local hobby stores form an important part in supporting our sport. As the landscape of aeromodelling changes, we need them to be around so that we continue to obtain what we need to keep our models flying.

Few aeromodellers would forget icons like Orchards Hobbies, which traded in Melbourne all those years ago. Although his father's store has long gone, Glenn Orchard is still an active club member in Victoria.

Next time your are looking for parts to keep you airborne or a new project to create, get behind your local stores and give them your support to help ensure they are around for many years to come.

Here at Balsacentral, we cut your Balsa sheets in Australia from the best Balsa wood grown in managed plantations from Papua New Guinea, not forests.

The Balsa sheets are cut from either 75mm, 100mm or 150mm boards and then micro-sanded for accuracy. Sheets range from 0.8mm to 25mm then we call them blocks.

Even I didnโ€™t know that Balsa was used in the Apollo 11 mission. Just like early 747 Jumboโ€™s and corvetteโ€™s have something in common.
