We've been busy little bee's behind the scenes π
Posts have been quieter while I've been finishing my Placenta Arts & Application course through APPA. This means that I will now be able to provide placenta encapsulation & arts in the safest way for both you as a consumer and me as the preparer.
I'm also super excited to be adding breastmilk jewellery to our list of services. This can be such a beautiful way to remember that often difficult, yet rewarding time in our lives when we were feeding our little ones π€
Works have begun and we will soon be showcasing the variety of jewellery we can provide in time for the end of July.
With all this going on, I thought it would be a timely opportunity to refresh the services that are behind the name 'Days with Daisy'. Thank you for everyone's love along the road of growing this little business, I can't thank you enough!

If you are expecting a precious babe in the next few months and feel like you need some extra support PLEASE reach out! π«΄
I am always happy to chat birth and postpartum, so even if it's not something you see here always check in as I might just have some time to chat and point you in the direction of other support, resources or doulas. π
I will be slowing down towards the end of the year to give myself time to prepare for my own birth and pp but will be hoping π€ to keep my books open until early November.
Keep your eyes peeled π for my next post which is something I have been learning to do and am offering out as of next month.
Tag a mumma friendπ who you think might want some TLC and/or birth empowerment!
Hello, it's me....πββοΈ
I have been a bit (very) slack as of late - thank you for sticking with me.
I have been busy growing a small orange π(or similar size object)!
I have still been doula-ing and have supported a family in bringing a beautiful baby boy into this world. π
I have also completed my doula training and am officially a qualified* doula, YAY!
I have put together this post as a reflection of what I have been doing to take care of myself and my growing babe. π€°
This is not a guide or recommendations but a reflection of the difference between my two places in life, my journey and the things I have learnt since having my first baby. This is through personal growth and experience, education, passion and a general interest into pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
I hope you stick with me for more reflections, a snippet in to something new I have been learning to do and some updates on my availability over the next year...
𧬠HORMONES π§¬
As women our hormones are always increasing and decreasing, through our menstrual cycle, during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
The biggest change in hormones since puberty happens during pregnancy, birth and postpartum, yet it doesn't really get as much screen time as puberty.
All schools start S*x Education, discussing the changes in your bodies, the reasons behind these changes and prepare you (or not) for what is about to come your way. Your parents sit you down and have 'the chat' ask if you want them to buy you sanitary products etc.
However no-one really prepares you for ALL the things that happen during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period. There is no 'Education' for that, there is no 'Chat' for that.
There are huge changes that happen in your brain and your body parts, and you're just told 'it's normal' or 'yeah that happens.'
Here is a *small* amount of information regarding some of the hormones skittering around in your brain and your body whilst being pregnant, during labour and birth and postpartum.
I would highly recommend doing some research into Matrescence and understanding the monumental changes that happen during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period.
Questions for your OB π§ββοΈ
I always go blank when anyones asks "have you got any questions?" whether it is in an interview, a date or my prenatal appts. I wish I knew then what I know now and had the confidence to ask the BIG questions.
This is YOUR birth and you have the right to ask these questions!
How to come up with questionsβ¦
Think about how you want your birth to look and feel? If you are writing down your preferences, then this is a good time to think about what you want and how it will look for the medical team. What they can do to support YOU.
Is consent super important to you? No students? No medical pain management? No mention of an epidural? No episiotomy?
These things can, and SHOULD all be discussed before the 'Birth day' and preferably written down both in your notes and for you to keep as a reminder of your thoughts and feelings at this time.
Continuity of Care π
Within our maternity system it is very tough to get into the midwife programme, especially here in Victoria as there are limited spaces, limited programmes and limited staff. π€·ββοΈ
There are plenty of statistics and research done in the outcomes of birth, including that of having continuity of care.
Who wouldn't want to see the same warm, friendly face for every appointment, scan and check-up as well as talking you through labour and birth, visiting you at home with your new bundle of joy?
If you are unable to get in to the Caseload midwife or CMP/MGP programme then there are still options; A Doula of course! π
Doula's are a fantastic way to have a continued support p erson throughout your pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum!
DM if this is something you are looking for or tag π a friend who is pregnant π€°
Midwife v Doula π
There are obvious differences between the two, however these differences can compliment each other if worked in unison and with the understanding that mum, dad and baby's needs come first. They call the shots, they make informed decisions, they understand the benefits and risks and they give consent to procedures.
Midwives have their place within the birth environment and Doulas have theirs, they should work as a team to provide the utmost care and support to a birthing person and their family.
