Just when you thought the Madness was over..
We've ridden for Deitz. Now it's time to ride π½πΈ Deitz.
Lock in the date - Sunday 16 April. In conjunction with there will be a group ride to catch up with David Deitz (coffee stop essential).
With all the nitty gritty still to come the critical details are: meet at Waterfall Station at 8am and ride to Centennial Park for 9:30 meet up with the man himself. Options will be available for train and automobile support.
Many thanks to for sponsoring the Team Everest Challenge. Teams accumulated the equivalent elevation of Mt Everest (8,849m) on designated climbs.
By the end of the weekend, and with many tired legs, Perre Bros Smash Repairs donated $190 per team, in total $1710 to the cause.
A fantastic combination of fundraising and team building. π
Congratulations to the Red (not bread) Team for winning the inaugural March Mountain Madness Team Challenge.
Red team rode an accumulated 244,727m of (adjusted) elevation. With the Black Team not too far behind on 219,088m
Well done to all the participants. While the competition was a bit of fun, the opportunity to work together, build relationships within the community and raise money for a very worthwhile cause was even better.
ποΈ A must see video for all of those participating and supporting March Mountain Madness 2023 ποΈ
Last chance to get your hands on the Ride for Deitz 2023 t-shirt!

One of the main objectives of March Mountain Madness is to bring the cycling community together for a worthy cause.
Pictured below is an example of the community coming together to support David Deitzβs rehabilitation process.

π£π΅ Shout out to Team BLUE π΅
Team blue got together and completed 600m of climbing together up and around keira.
6 riders, great day out, plenty of others on the mountain!
π΄ RED team meet on Alpe Du Zwift π΄
Kudos to the red team for their determination to complete the group ride challenge yesterday afternoon! Despite the rain they still managed to ride together virtually ππΌππΌππΌ
π£ Shout out to Sharon, Nancy and Kate for their joint Everest on Mount Keira today!
Shout out to our super sub Nate. π€©π
As a 'rogue rider' Nate has been up for grabs if anyone couldn't ride. For a donation of $100 ($200 to apply the original rider's multiplier) Nate's rides would count towards that rider's team tally.
Thanks Nate for putting in the hard yards (metres) and stepping up for March Mountain Madness 2023.
π£ Shout out to the wonderful Michael's Cathedral Wollongong & Corrimal community for their organisation and baking for the 'Ride For Deitz' Cake Stall and provision of lawn games at the 'Ride For Deitz' community day!
An update from Kate, one of our 'individual challengers' π
Two of our children attend Smiths Hill and we have all been keen to support Mr Deitz. We have been inspired by his hard work and positivity in the face of adversity.
As a family we have set the goal to run a combined 250km in 3 weeks. We often run later in the evening after our other commitments. Despite rolled ankles, sickness and rain, we are tracking well. We will have a busy week of running next week and are going to achieve our goal.

Our next generation of volunteers rose to the occasion at our βRide For Deitzβ community day last Saturday. From guessing competitions, a face painting stall, lolly bags and local honey produce, the enthusiasm from our younger generation was inspirational.
A heartfelt thank you from David Deitz after the βRide For Deitzβ Day.
Wow! What an amazing day!!!
On behalf of my family and myself, we would like to say any enormous thank you π
The Disability Trust for organising transport to and from the Prince of Wales Hospital.

Helmet and bike safety checks are essential for safe riding.
Junior riders at the Ride for Deitz Community Day checked their helmets fitted correctly; and then the ABCDE of bike safety.
Air in the tyres; brakes working correctly; chain running smoothly; a gentle drop test to check for rattles; and the ends of handle bars with covers or caps in place.
Thanks Illawarra Cycle Club, AusCycling Si-Cycles and Ride Nation for helping to keep our young riders safe.
