Highlights from today's first grade T20 final. Lake Illawarra 8/143 defeating Shellharbour City Cricket Club Seniors 10/129 Lakers won the toss and elected to bat in front of a fantastic crowd of supporters. Interestingly every fallen Lakers wicket was taken by a catch. Lake top batting scores William Gamble 20 from 9 balls and opener Max Henderson 34 from 24 balls. Shellharbour opener Alexander Brown had just settled into the crease when he was caught by Jaiden Robinson. It was a really tight game until the 15th over when a wicket fell every over until the 20th which saw 3 wickets fall in a very exciting finish. William Gamble declared Lakers man of the match for accelerating the run score and a great 4 over stint with the ball taking 2 wickets. Lake Illawarra 1st grade play Shellharbour tomorrow for the Justin Burns Shield at Tom (Scout) Willoughby Oval, Beverley Whitfield Park. Justin was an integral part of the local sporting scene whether it be golf or cricket. Cricket was a passion he shared at Shellharbour initially and then Lake Illawarra as a player, passionate spectator and sponsor. He was always around to lend an ear fir a chat, help with some advice for young players while coaching and also just be a fantastic role model to so many. He is the toughest person we have known and never showed his pain in public. He was always "yeah I'm good mate" He left us way too early but leaves a lasting legacy through his son Jackson who is plying his trade in grade cricket and now also having a shield named in his honour that will stay forever. A true gentleman and mate to so many in our cricket circle. Forever remembered. We wish to thank the family for allowing us to have this honour in his name and look forward to playing for the shield each and every year.

A few batting highlights of Bohdi Robinson's South Coast Rep Grand Final 2023.

1st Grade T20 highlights Friday 1st December 2023 This week the weather was lovely we were lucky to have blue skies. Lakers won the toss and elected to bat. Captain Kerrod White opened the bat smacking 8 x 6s and 7 x 4s in true T20 style achieving 110 of the 204 runs amassed by Lake. Kerrod then casually took 2 early wickets with the ball while Ryan Smith played football before taking two wickets. Mitchel Constantinou and Brendan White also taking two and Jarryd White 1 leaving Kiama all out for 81. Get down to Howard Fowles again this Friday at 4.30pm for another great match. Canteen will be open serving cold drinks and a limited food menu.
