Kia Ora everyone.
Sorry for the big delay in communication. We come across a few things we needed to put in place and consider before we start.

As we were putting this together after a realisation that we couldn’t enter our own team into the Pacifica Cup and wanting our Illawarra kids to have a Maori rugby experience for years to come,it grew quite quickly.
(We are greatful to the Pacifica tournament organisers who have sparked us up to do what we are doing)❤️🏉❤️🏉
We had a few things to sort out and due to some of our kids with loads of commitment over the past couple of months with league reps,oztag,7s Rugby etc etc we have come up with this.

Our season would look like this.
START
•August -Training (whilst our kids are still in winter sport mode).
•September - tournament/games after rugby/league finals.
•April/May games v country representative teams.
Season would end after these games with a presentation night.

So this is the plan for 2023.
We would actually like to get together in March and get some teams together to play in April/May to play.

Then we will recommence in August for the new group of kids to come through.

Things we are organising in the back ground are.
•website
•insurance
•sponsors
•kit
•teams

We have had requests for girls teams and I think we should consider it too.
If you have a vested interest in this and would like to coach and know you can get a team together and even if it’s a 7s squad please make contact and we can get the ball rolling.

Welcome to our page.
We have set up this Rugby Experience to bring our Tamariki together to play in a environment where our Maori culture can be displayed on and off the Rugby field.
We are targeting two age groups u14 and u16 boys Rugby.
We are setting this up for a annual event in which we can gather around the same time(s) every year and play 3 games/tournaments per year and build towards a trip either back home or further abroad.
Our Maori culture is what we want to express and invite those not only from Maori but our Polynesian, indigenous and all Kiwis living in the Illawarra region to come on this journey with us.
This is the start of our adventure and will be looking to add teams for our Wahine once we get a better Understanding of how our first year progresses in 2022.

Morena
Just an update on the Pacifica tournament.
The tournament is set up so you trial for those teams as mentioned in their post.
Maori,Fiji,Samoa etc etc.
There is only one team per nation and you have to train up at the two blues venue and be selected for those teams.
Only 1 team per nation.
So we don’t think that suits the us but a great inactive for those living up that way and from the Two Blues Rugby Club.👍

For us we would still like to get our teams together and formulate an annual event for Maori under the Illawarra Maori Rugby banner.
I am meeting Patrick Hughes today to put forward our suggestions regarding the future of our newly formed Rugby adventure for our Tamariki and I must say it all looks really positive.
•Looking to play 3 games a year.
•Boys to learn a Haka.
•Connect our boys.
•Play Rugby Maori Styles,flair,fun and natural.🏉💯🏉💯🏉💯🏉💯🏉💯
Without sounding too serious😩
✅We will need to form a club.(for insurance purposes).
✅We will need some 💰.
✅We will need a committee😎.
All easy things to sort out🤙🏼

In the meantime please post here some of your ideas or how you would like to be involved 🤞and we update in the next few days to touch base and get the 🏉 rolling.
