The night not only recognised the player achievements but was also filled with fun and laughter involving parents versus players games and some fun with a Photo Booth!
The Swans had a fantastic first season and showed that our local talent can match it with the Sydney teams. This would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors, our wonderful coaches Aaron and Shane, the support from Steve Davies and our committed players and their families.
On behalf of the Southern Swans Cricket Club Committee, we say a big thank you to all involved and we can’t wait to do it all again in the 2024/25 season!
So true…

The Southern Swans played their final game of the Brewer Shield, today! It was a fantastic first season for the Swans and there were certainly many positives to take from the season.
The Swans finished 8th out of 14, which is a great achievement by a team in their first season of premier cricket. It was a new experience for many members of the team and each player showed great improvement as the season went on. The girls got to play in a great competition against talented players on some wonderful grounds. The team bonded so well and friendships have grown because of cricket.
A huge thanks to Aaron Hudson and Shane Cody, for coaching the team. Your encouragement and belief in these girls helped them to grow throughout the season. Your time, knowledge and commitment is greatly appreciated!
Congratulations to Captain Nicola Hudson on a great season of captaincy. Your guidance and encouragement along with vice captain Ella, was greatly appreciated. Nicola’s efforts in getting down to all the home games and setting up was fantastic.
A big thanks to our Swan families for their efforts in driving the girls all over the countryside and supporting the team. There were some big distances travelled, especially by some families, and it is greatly appreciated. Thanks to all that helped with scoring, setting up and packing up. Thanks to Janelle for those special little things like ribbons, making the uniform presentation special and lollies!
A big thanks to Steve Davies and the Swans Committee for helping the Swans get up and running. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes and a lot of effort goes into getting sponsorship, so thanks to all involved. Thanks Steve for all your liaising with Cricket NSW, believing in our team and making sure we tick all the boxes to get this team on the field each week. Thanks to groundsmen Steve for preparing our beautiful home ground. The Sydney teams loved King George and the location!
Last but not least, a huge thanks to our sponsors - Five Islands Hotel, JP Gavan, Forshore Shipping Containers, Ray White South Wollongong and Make the Mark Building Services. Your sponsorship helped give this team the opportunity to play the game that they love and it is very much appreciated!
Well that’s a wrap for season one for our Swannies! Congratulations, hold your heads high and let’s do it again next season!
The Southern Swans took on the 2nd placed UTS North Sydney team, in the final round of the Brewer Shield at King George V, today.
The Swans won the toss and decided to bowl. The girls put on a great all round team bowling and fielding display. Early wickets fell when Katie Martin (2/28 off 9) and Ebony Winston (2/18 off 7.2) got the openers out. The wickets consistently fell with Amelia Valdez taking 3/12 off 5 and Farrah Cody, Georgia Lovegrove and Molly Lynch each picking up a wicket to have UTS all out for 117.
The Swans then went in to bat but it just wasn’t our day! Some great bowling and a couple of things not going our way meant that UTS had the Swans out for 62.
Congratulations on a good win, UTS. Well done Swannies, there were lots of positives to take out of today, particularly the great bowling and fielding!
The Southern Swans take on UTS North Sydney in the last regular round of the Brewer Shield. Let’s go Swannies!
The Southern Swans took on Bankstown, in the 2nd last round game of the Brewer Shield.
The Swans lost the toss and Bankstown went into bat. Although the opening partnership for Bankstown lasted for 34 overs, the Swans made them work hard for their runs. The Swans bowled 10 maidens including 6 maidens in a row by Ebony Winston and Farrah Cody. Matilda Holgate got her first wicket for the Swans, ending with figures of 1/11. Credit to Bankstown for bringing it home towards the end of their innings. Wickets also went to Farrah Cody and Ebony Winston along with a runout from Ella Yates and Ebony Winston, to end the innings 4/179.
The Swans went into bat and despite batting out the innings with some good contributions from Nicola Hudson 22 and Sophia Galland 22* , the Swans fell short with 7/112.
Congratulations on a great win, Bankstown. Well done Swans, you tried hard until the last ball. Unfortunately the Swans sit just out of finals contention so next weekend will be the Swan’s final game of the season when they take on UTS Sydney.
The Southern Swans take on Bankstown in the Brewer Shield, at the beautiful King George V oval.
Bankstown won the toss and have elected to bat.

The Swans had some great performances with the ball, with Farrah Cody getting 2/16 off 10 and Emily Sharman picking up her first wicket in Brewers with figures of 1/13 off 5. Ebony Winston bowled very tight through the middle overs picking up 1/14 off 9. The Swans fought in tough conditions to the very end with the temperature hitting 41 degrees. Penrith’s opening batter Amelia Crouch batted out the innings with great patience to get her team over the line, 7 wickets down with 2 overs to spare.
Congratulations Penrith on a great win and great effort Swannies, especially in the heat.
